Thank you to the power line crews working through this storm. ⚡❄️

While we’re inside staying warm, they’re out in the wind, snow, and freezing cold, climbing poles and restoring power in some of the toughest conditions Newfoundland & Labrador throws at them.

These workers don’t get enough credit for the dangerous, exhausting job they do — especially on nights like this.

To every linesman and every crew member out battling the storm…. thank you. 🙏💡

Heads Up, Canada! 🚨

Today, November 19, there will be a nationwide Public Emergency Alert Test.

You may hear or see the test alert on your phone, TV, or radio depending on your province or territory.

This is only a test — it’s done regularly to make sure the Alert Ready system works properly during real emergencies.

Each year on November 11, we pause to remember.

At the Canadian War Museum, Remembrance Day honours all those who have served Canada, at home and overseas, in times of war, conflict, and peace.

As sunlight passes through the Memorial Hall window at precisely 11 a.m., it illuminates the headstone of Canada’s Unknown Soldier, a quiet reminder of the cost of service and the enduring importance of memory.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.”

These words of the ‘Ode of Remembrance’, which are inscribed on our War Memorial, were written by former Museum Keeper, Laurence Binyon. For , we present this red poppy created by the British artist Mary Delany in 1779. The poppy was made a symbol of remembrance for World War I by John McCrae's famous poem ‘In Flanders Fields’.
