Green Party ideas folks.

Growing and supporting the skilled trades, including carpentry, is absolutely essential to meeting goals on everything from climate to housing.

It's part of why I was so glad to get to meet with Finn, Matt, and Eli from Carpenter’s Local 785 at their local office.

We discussed a range of issues, including our shared interest in mass timber (a low carbon alternative for building a range of structures), their work giving back to our community, as well as the Greener Homes Grant program - a critical federal incentive for home energy retrofits that Greens have been advocating be replenished and expanded, which would create thousands of well-paid jobs in the trades, including carpentry (watch my recent speech in Parliament about this here: https://youtu.be/vPYK01xNh2A?feature=shared).

I’m looking forward to continued conversations with local 785, knowing they're another helpful sounding board for my team and I on any legislation that affects workers in our community.

The overflow for our beautiful pond. I love the sound of running water. If I had the means I would love to establish a walking trail that follows it to the small bridge and then out.

Beginning

Tir na Fonn, irish gaelic for Land of aspirations. Land of music. It is my husband’s ancestral land, him being the fourth John Withrow ,accorded to his family by association with Lord Rawdon who came north with families who would not fight the British. His family were also miners. This however, is a story about the land, its survival and the wonder of getting to know it intimately.
