🩺 A better read on health faster, clearer, and closer to home.

This Welch Allyn vital signs monitor is now part of the emergency care team at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital. It captures critical health data like blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, and heart rate, all within seconds, with speed and accuracy in moments that count.

This technology helps rural hospitals deliver the same level of care you’d expect in larger centres, and it’s here because our community believes in better.

💙 Your donations power progress. And progress means better tools, outcomes, and care right here on the Eastern Shore.

🌡️ Feeling overheated? It might be more serious than you think.

Heat stroke can happen fast, especially in seniors, young children, and people with medical conditions. It’s not just being “a little too warm”, it’s a life-threatening emergency that needs urgent care 🏥.

Warning signs to watch for:
🚨 Confusion or slurred speech
🚨 Nausea or vomiting
🚨 Hot, red skin that may stop sweating
🚨 Rapid pulse or shallow breathing
🚨 Fainting

Here’s what to do:
🧊 Move them to a cooler place immediately
🧊 Apply cold compresses or wet cloths
🧊 Call 911, don’t delay

At Twin Oaks and The Birches, staff are trained and equipped to act fast, but out in the community, you may be the first line of defence.

Check in on neighbours. Offer shade. Stay hydrated.
Small steps can prevent big emergencies.

🚨 Have you bought your 50/50 ticket yet?

There’s still time, and this month’s draw is helping us fund a StatStrip Glucose Meter for emergency care at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital 🏥.

For patients with diabetes or a sudden illness, this device enables nurses to test 🩸blood sugar on the spot, guiding urgent decisions and saving time when every second counts.

You could win half the pot 💰.
The hospital gets the other half, and everyone wins.

💻 Every second counts in the ER; this monitor helps make those seconds matter.

This GE CARESCAPE patient monitor is now used at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital’s emergency department. It continuously tracks vital signs like heart rate, oxygen levels, and blood pressure, providing real-time data for faster decisions and better outcomes 🏥.

While it may seem like standard hospital gear, this level of monitoring isn't always guaranteed in rural healthcare settings. That’s where you come in.

Thanks to your donations, this life-saving technology is available here on the Eastern Shore, where it belongs 💙.

🔥 In moments of trauma or medical emergency, warmth can save lives.

This Level 1 warming unit is designed to help regulate body temperature during critical care, especially for patients experiencing shock, blood loss, or prolonged exposure. It circulates heated air through specialized warming blankets, reducing the risk of hypothermia and supporting faster recovery 🏥.

It may not be flashy, but it’s vital. And it’s here, at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, thanks to you 💙.

Your generosity ensures that even small hospitals have big-impact tools that bring comfort, stability, and life-saving care when needed most.

👶🧒 Summer fun should be safe fun, especially for babies and young children, who are more sensitive to heat and dehydration.

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, neighbour, or caregiver, here are a few simple ways to help keep kids safe when the temperature climbs:

✅ Keep babies out of direct sunlight; shade is best!
✅ Dress little ones in lightweight, breathable clothing.
✅ Offer water frequently (children tend to dehydrate faster than adults).
✅ NEVER leave a child in a vehicle, even for a minute.
✅ Watch for signs of overheating: flushed cheeks, fussiness, fatigue, or dry diapers.

At Twin Oaks and The Birches, we see firsthand how a moment of awareness can prevent a medical emergency. And in rural areas like ours, community watchfulness makes all the difference 🏡.

Let’s look out for each other this summer, young and old alike 💙.

☀️ As temperatures rise, so does the risk for those most vulnerable, especially seniors.

Extreme heat can quickly lead to dehydration, dizziness, or more serious health concerns, such as heat stroke. That’s why it’s so important to keep an eye on aging parents, neighbours, and loved ones during the summer months 🧓👵🏡.

Here’s how you can help:
✅ Check in regularly, especially during heatwaves.
✅ Make sure fans or AC are working.
✅ Offer a ride to a cool place like the pharmacy or grocery store.
✅ Encourage drinking water, even if they don’t feel thirsty.
✅ Watch for signs of confusion, flushed skin, or fatigue.

At The Birches and Twin Oaks, equipment funded by our donors, like vital signs monitors and cooling-safe shower chairs, helps ensure our residents are cared for in the heat.

But out in the community, it’s up to all of us.

🩵 A quick check-in could mean the world to someone.
