I’ve been “running the roads” as my Mom would say, restocking for Spring. 🪺🌱🌷 I hit Scotia Handmade Treasures and Kismet Gifts last week. 3 more to go in the coming weeks. The weather is warming, people are starting to get out more and the seasonal shops are getting ready for the busy season.

It always seems to hit all at once every year but I’m grateful for the connections to other small businesses and grateful for the support each season. Thank you for keeping me busy! ✨

I did an event last weekend and the number one thing people were looking for was help with dry, often itchy skin.

This winter has been brutal, in any number of ways but especially on our skin. The dry air, indoor heating, reduced water intake and harsh wind all take their toll on our skin - both in look and feel.

This time of year calls for rich products, oil heavy emulsions and strong occlusives to lock in the moisture and protect it from the elements.

Body Butter is a classic winter skin go-to. A whipped combo of shea and cocoa butters, coconut oil and olive oil infused with calendula - it’s gentle, effective, protective and creates a barrier between your skin and the air.

Body Oil is my personal favourite way to lock in moisture this time of year. Applied fresh out of the shower or bath, it seals in that water, leaving your skin both hydrated and moisturized.

Red Clover Skin Saver helps to soothe chapped skin and reduce irritation. Infused with clover, calendula, burdock and echinacea, it’s a concentrated balm designed to calm and protect.

Took a little trip to a nice little event at Cole Harbour Place today to visit a couple of my favourite makers.

Let’s be honest… there was no way I was staying away knowing the ridiculously good gingerbread cookies from Celtic Cookies were going to be there, so close to me... an opportunity I could not pass up. Teresa had them baked fresh as always, and they never disappoint.

I also grabbed a little pot of Red Clover Skin Saver from the lovely Kira at THERApotions Natural Beauty and Apothecary. After this dry winter, my skin has been making its feelings very clear, and this feels like exactly what it’s been asking for.

If you’re nearby and want to grab some goodies for yourself, the show is on again tomorrow from 10am–2pm.

Now I’m home, kettle’s on, and it’s time for tea and a cookie… or two.

This is great news! For my HRM customers, deodorant tubes and pump bottles are now accepted in your blue bag! That means all THERApotions packaging is now recyclable. ♻️

The plastic deodorant tubes have long been something I’ve felt guilty about. Everytime I throw one away, I feel bad. I’ve looked into cardboard options but they’re incredibly expensive, difficult to work with and a bit fragile. I’ve considered offering it in a tin, I even tried a few prototypes but they’re messy and difficult to apply. People like what they like and I was always hesitant to stray from a classic tube style despite the waste.

I’m so happy HRM has expanded their recycling program. FYI - based on what I’ve been reading, pretty much all cosmetic waste is now recyclable - tubes, bottles, pumps, caps, even mascara tubes! Most items I’ve looked up (spray bottles, deodorant, lip balm tubes etc.) indicate to leave the cap ON for recycling. 💫
