What are Sundays for!? They are for Self Care, Self Compassion, and Self Love 🌸✨ Tough love has never been a strategy that works, yet we still gravitate toward it and impose it on ourselves in the hope that we will finally be able to force out our unwanted parts (avoidance, self judgement, self hate, negativity, worry, anger, deny, shame, guilt, etc.).
It is the self-loathing part that needs the most compassion, love, empathy, and kindness. If it were approached with compassion there would be more openness and opportunity for flexibility, space for leaning in, working on, developing, evolving, patience, and growth. Research on self-compassion shows that it assists with better health, relationships, motivation, self-confidence, self-fulfillment, resilience, and emotional balance.

One way to start is by using mindfulness, ie: β€œWhen I’m feeling down I try to approach my feelings with curiosity and openness.” Slow down, take a deep breath, notice where you feel in it your body, acknowledge the feeling, and ask what your body needs? Start slow and keep it simple. One step at a time.
