The day is quickly approaching for the annual CAOA continuing education workshop and this year I am thrilled to be able to share my message alongside some of my fellow Aromatherapists as a presenter. The topics are diverse and include conservation and ethical sourcing of essential and carrier oils, the "M Technique" method of touch for relaxation, unique essential oils and their therapeutic applications, and aromatherapy for grief and loss. Grief affects us all and there are many ways we can find comfort and relief through our journey with grief. One thing is certain though - we need the time and space to process the reality of our situation and the changes it brings. Be gentle with yourself...take all the time you need to feel, remember and heal.

I'm thrilled to be a part of this new course for aromatherapy support for palliative & bereavement care through the Essence of Thyme College of Holistic Studies. This expanded course incorporates the short course, "Easing the Emotions of Grief through the Sense of Smell" that was launched last year. Together, with the expertise of Marika Fleri's work in palliative care and the legacy of Jonathan Benevides compassionate work, we will guide you through learning about companioning and supporting others through grief and loss and end of life care with dignity and compassion through Aroma-Therapy.

These last few weeks have been busy - and enjoyable - as they have been filled with lots of preparation work and the excited anticipation of the joy I feel when I share my message of how scent supports us.

This year the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Conference was held here in Nanaimo and I had the privilege of providing a workshop on supporting Hospice clients through the sense of smell. It's always thrilling for me to connect with people who are curious and who want to learn more about scent & grief. I was touched by the stories and personal insights that were shared at the workshop and I'm sure I was not the only one.

This week, I once again offered an interactive workshop for Mid Island Elder College on finding comfort after loss through the sense of smell. I am truly enjoying the interactions that happen as participants explore different scents and make connections about how the scents make them feel. So many great insights, lots of questions and eager participation. I will be doing another workshop in the spring and am looking forward to that!
