What is a blackhead? 🕳️

Comedones are clogged hair follicles, or visible clogged pores, that are a primary lesion in acne. They are caused by a buildup of oil and shed keratin in the pilosebaceous duct. Comedones are categorized as open or closed depending on whether the skin surface is intact or disrupted. Open comedones are blackheads, while closed comedones are whiteheads. Blackheads appear due to oxidation of the plugged material when exposed to air. 

What is the cause of blackheads? 🕳️

A blackhead forms when a hair follicle is dilated and becomes clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Each of the many hair follicles on your skin contains a sebaceous gland that produces an oil called sebum.

For the first time in 14 years Rachel will be taking a step back from weddings in 2026 to enjoy summer with her family and focus on her mental health.

That being said she will only be taking 1-2 weddings per month and will be booking up quickly.

We are on the hunt for more makeup and hair stylists to join our growing Enhance Beauty team enhancing wonderful brides all over Vancouver Island.
