Coming up is our second FREE introduction to A Scented Space - a chance to experience our connection to the scented world of plants and how their fragrances can support and softness us if we're experiencing grief and loss. We'll be working with the Nootka roses (Rosa nutkana) which are beginning to bloom in the wild right now to offer us their sweet scent. The vibration of our heart changes when we align and make a connection to gather strength and support from this sacred plant that represents love.

I'm so excited to share my new version of the A Scented Space program, now in its virtual format. This combines all of the aspects of my work as a Registered Aromatherapist and Hospice volunteer supporting people through grief and loss. Right now seems a good time with all of the losses we may be experiencing with this Pandemic - the loss of routines, social interactions, or the loss of income can all seem overwhelming. With A Scented Space, we combine our sense of smell with meditation and create a space of comfort and relaxation - both within and around ourselves - that we can return to any time we may need to. If you or someone you know is overwhelmed and seeking peace and comfort, this may be of benefit.

I feel so much warmth and gratitude in my heart for all of the people in my life and I am wishing everyone a happy holiday season filled with many wonderful scented blessings! We will be closed starting December 22 and will reopen Tuesday, January 7th in 2020.

This year's Vancouver Island Hospice Conference at the Tigh-Na-Mara Resort in Parksville was so informative and relevant for today's Hospice care. So many varied and interesting topics were covered - I was happy to be a part of it. What a pleasure for me to be able to share the benefits of scent and compassionate touch for those in bereavement and/or at end-of-life and to talk about the program I created (and that is currently being offered at Nanaimo Community Hospice) called "A Scented Space". It's my dream to see this program be implemented in other Hospice organizations within Canada so that those who are experiencing grief and loss can experience the comfort and relaxation that can come from our powerful senses of smell and touch.

There was lots of creating happening this morning in our workshop with essential oils and the theme of "Letting Go to Receive". One of the oils to help us with this today was German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita), with Robbi Zeck's "Blossoming Heart" affirmation of "I let go and let be" and then there are these wise words from Tao Te Ching: "When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. When I let go of what I have, I receive what I need".

It thrills me to watch you work with the essential oils with such purpose and creativity - connecting with each unique scent and then putting them together in a way that supports you best. I am loving doing this with you!

I have been looking for a Fireweed candle mold for sometime now and I ended up having to make one for myself, as I couldn't seem to find one already done. I'm pretty happy with how closely they resemble the plant (and that we were able to find some still in bloom at this time of year to use for the photo shoot!). I'll be working now on having these ready for Christmas. The large one is 6" tall with a simpler design; the smaller one is 4".
