The 66th Annual Nanaimo Polar Bear Swim, with over 200 brave polar bears taking the chilly plunge!

Ahoy Mateys! We were proud to support the Nanaimo Realty ‘pirates’ and all Nanaimo’s hardiest and heartiest polar bears at the 66th Annual Polar Bear Swim. Over 200 brave swimmers took the chilly plunge at Departure Bay Beach today. Well done everyone!

Season’s greetings from SJA in Nanaimo! As the year closes, we’re grateful for all our amazing volunteers and their dedicated efforts to support our community. Thank you so much!

We enjoyed our holiday potluck dinner the other night. It was wonderful to have Arlene Berube and her husband, Andre, join us for the feast. Arlene recently retired from SJA, with 10,783 hours of voluntary service! It was our distinct pleasure to present her with a certificate to recognize her outstanding contribution over the many years. Thank you Arlene, we wish you the very best in your retirement!

A fantastic evening, with an abundance of tasty food, lots of laughs and a great way to wrap up a highly successful year for Nanaimo SJA!

Such a wonderful Light Up celebration in Ladysmith to kick off the holiday season. Did you get to Ladysmith to enjoy the spectacular lights, parade and drone show? Our Nanaimo SJA volunteers were pleased to support our friends from the Cowichan Division at this very busy and important event. Organizers estimated there were 20,000 people there to see Santa turn on the lights. What an incredible night. Thank you to all the organizers, volunteers, participants and community for the memorable experience.

Nanaimo St. John Ambulance volunteers were very proud to attend the Remembrance Day services in Nanaimo and Lantzville on Nov 11th.

Our thanks to the veterans, organizers, parade participants, volunteers and community at large for supporting these important services on Remembrance Day. Well done everyone!

St John Ambulance is proud to support our veterans and community as we gather in solemn remembrance on November 11th.

Watch for our volunteers at the Nanaimo and Lantzville Remembrance Day services. For details on the service hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branches 10 and 256 at the Dallas Square Cenotaph in Nanaimo, please refer to the uploaded photos. In Lantzville, Branch 257 is hosting the service at Huddlestone Park Cenotaph. We encourage everyone to wear a poppy and take time to honour and remember those who have sacrificed so much for all of us.

We had lots of fun at the Medieval Fall Faire in Coombs last weekend. It was organized by the Society for Creative Anachronism, with people attending from all over Vancouver Island (and many dressed up in Middle Ages clothing too)
