A few new faces to our : Nanaimo Hockey Academy team
1. HENRY ACRES (skills coach)
Henry is the new assistant coach for the Nanaimo Clippers and has ample experience coaching at the professional and senior levels in Sweden and Norway, Hungary.
With a strong passion for player development, Acres is dedicated to teaching the game the right way—focusing on skill, discipline, and a positive team culture. Known for his ability to connect with players and foster growth both on and off the ice, he has become a respected figure in the Nanaimo hockey community.
2. CHASE LANG (skills/skating coach)
Langer played his junior hockey in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen and Vancouver Giants before being selected by the Minnesota Wild in the 2014 NHL Draft.
He went on to play in the AHL and ECHL, where he built a reputation for his work ethic, skating ability , grit, and leadership.
3. MARCUS BEESLEY (goalie coach )
Marcus is new to Vancouver Island , originally from Alberta. Marcus was the senior head goalie instructor for World Pro Goaltending.
Currently Marcus is the goalie coach for the Nanaimo Clippers and the Nanaimo Buccaneers and has taught over 10,000 private sessions and trained goalies at the Junior A, WHL, and pro levels.
Marcus has trained many high level goalies such as WHL Goaltender of the Year and Canadian World Junior, Ian Scott (WHL / AHL), Kurtis Chapman (WHL / USports), and Nolan Kent (AJHL / NCAA).
Marcus brings a good measure of experience to the ice along with his strong shooting skills, enthusiastic approach, and positive energy.
4. PATRICK BAJKOV (skills coach)
Born and raised here in Nanaimo Patty is a professional hockey player currently playing for the Jacksonville Icemen . A skilled forward known for his playmaking ability and scoring touch, Bajkov played his junior career with the Everett Silvertips in the WHL, where he set franchise records for goals and points.
Following his standout junior years, he signed with the Florida Panthers organization and went on to compete in the AHL and ECHL, continuing to showcase his offensive talent and leadership on the ice.
