For more than 15 years, Eileen has dedicated her life to caring for others, but her journey didn’t begin in a classroom or a training program. It began at home. “My journey started by taking care of my mom and dad. That’s where I discovered my love for caregiving – and my gift for it.”

From supporting children with special needs to working with older adults with dementia, she spent her career standing beside those who needed support the most.

“I like to think that I’m walking alongside my seniors during the most important chapter in their lives," she shares of her role as a Community Health Aide at Atria Park of Lynbrook. "Every day I strive to make a difference, to bring a smile, to create comfort and to help make their golden years truly feel golden."

For Eileen, it’s about giving each resident personal attention – taking the time to talk, listen and bond. To make someone feel seen. “I hope to inspire others to become caregivers. This work comes from the heart."

"She is one of the pillars of our Memory Care team. A steady, compassionate presence who reminds us that the most powerful part of dementia care is human connection. We are truly fortunate to have her," shares Dorota, the community's Life Guidance Director.

"She proves that age is just a number," shares Connie, the community's Engage Life Director. "She attends every fitness class and even enjoys a little boxing to stay strong!"

Who doesn't love a good book?

Our residents sure do! And they share their love of reading with students, family members and each other.

"Atria Bethlehem helped residents share their love of reading with the youngsters," shares the family member of resident Sal, who was one of the volunteer readers to read at a local elementary school. "We are so proud of Sal, and we are so appreciative that you helped bring smiles to the residents and the children!"

From Cat in the Hat antics to grandparents reading with their grandchildren, it's clear books are beloved by all ages! 📚

Our Passover celebrations were filled with warmth and tradition as residents gathered to retell the story of freedom and renewal. From seder meals to joyful gatherings with family and friends, it was a time of reflection, gratitude and cherished community bonds.

The men's group at Atria Maplewood Place found a great way to give back. 🐾

After a trip to the hardware store, they got to work building dog beds from PVC pipe. The guys jumped right in – measuring, cutting pipe, putting the frames together and screwing down the fabric. They had a great time using tools and showing off their skills.

Lots of teamwork, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of pride in a job well done. Days like this remind us that experience never fades – it just waits for the right project. 💙

Music brings people together. 🎶

Local music therapist Eric Lebowitz performed a lively sing-along that filled the memory care neighborhood at Atria Briarcliff Manor with smiles and laughter. Everyone grabbed an instrument and joined in.

"My father is so happy," shares Catherine, the daughter of one of the residents who enjoyed the performance.

"When I moved into my wonderful apartment at Atria Bell Court Gardens, I expected a life free from worry about personal safety, shopping, cooking and the nightly kitchen cleanup," shares resident Barbara. "I got that and so much more!"

Barbara's fellow residents recently took a trip to visit her art studio. They shared lunch, talked about Barbara's art and learned about her life as an artist. Her journey is truly incredible!

Barbara adds, "I did not expect to get a whole new group of kind and supportive friends, well-traveled dinner party conversationalists, and so many smart and art-loving people with my kind of sense of humor."

When Dillon takes to the ice wearing #71 for the Oilers, he has a crowd ready to cheer him on – often filled with familiar faces from Atria at Hometown. 🏒

Dillon is the community's Maintenance Director, and the residents love to go to his games to watch him play. “I have played hockey all my life,” he shares. “It’s such a great time for everyone. Lots of laughs, and we always take a group picture when residents come.”

Way to go, Dillon! You've got some pretty amazing fans!💙🥅

Calling all cookie fanatics! 🍪

Atria Newport Beach was delighted to welcome local Girl Scouts, who stopped by to sell their famous cookies. It was extra meaningful because some of the residents — who were once Girl Scouts themselves — came out to support the girls and even help encourage cookie sales.

Thank you to the girls for bringing smiles (and delicious cookies) to our Newport Beach community. 🍪✨

We took a trip up to British Columbia for our Taste of Victoria culinary events. 🍁

We enjoyed clam chowder, fish and chips with coleslaw and the iconic no-bake Canadian dessert, Nanaimo bars! To top it off, we watched the movie The Young Victoria in honor of the city's royal namesake.

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

Last Saturday night, the residents were thrilled to witness a 5-3 victory by the Nanaimo Clippers while attending the game in the VIP Suite! We enjoyed the warmth and comfort of the suite, along with pizza, beverages, and a special visit from the Clippers SuperFan.

A big thank you to our Bus Driver of the Year, D'Arcy, for taking time away from his family to make this wonderful evening happen for our residents. Go Clippers!

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make our recent sale such a meaningful success. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our residents, their families, and the wider community, we raised over $700 in support of an initiative that truly matters. This achievement would not have been possible without your kindness, encouragement, and belief in the cause.

Every contribution—whether through purchasing items, donating, or simply spreading the word—brings us one step closer to our shared goal: supporting a seniors-only emergency room. Our seniors deserve care that is compassionate, specialized, and designed with their unique needs in mind. Making this vision a reality will be our focus throughout the year.

This sale is just the beginning. We have several fundraising events planned in the months ahead and will continue to create opportunities for our community to come together in support of this important cause. For those who wish to contribute at any time, donations are always welcome and deeply appreciated.
