10 YEARS! I’ve been a Registered Physiotherapist for 10 years. THANK YOU to my clients, past and present, for bringing me so much laughter, smiles and pride over the years. I am so grateful to be a part of a profession that brings me so much joy.
In honour of the big T E N, here are 10 things I’ve learned so far:
1. Hope is a beautiful and powerful thing
2. It’s ok not to have all the answers all of the time.
3. Never stop learning (see #2)
4. If nothing changes, change your plan.
5. Stress affects everything.
6. Self-care as a therapist is one of the most important keys to success and longevity (still working on this one).
7. Movement IS medicine. Physically and mentally.
8. Small chunks of exercise are better than no exercise at all. If you can’t do 30 squats, start with 5 at a time. You’ll get there.
9. Goal setting is an important incentive tool. Knowing what you’re working towards helps encourage compliance.
10. Have fun! Laughter builds relationships. Conversations build trust. Physio can be fun (even when it’s painful 😅).
