A little about Emily Honegger M.O.M. Sc, Osteopathic Manual Practitioner: https://sante.janeapp.com/ #/staff_member/17
I graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, an intensive 4.5 year full-time program of academic and clinical education that exceeds the World Health Organization’s top standard of training. With over 1500 supervised hands-on training, and 4200 hours of class time, this principles-based education has taught me how to assess and treat the human body as a collective, functional unit, all while nurturing an intimate understanding of anatomy and physiology down to the finest detail.
I work to understand what is going on with your body so I can identify the root cause of your discomfort and address it. My approach is gentle and aims to appeal to the nervous system while being efficient and effective. The result is that your body benefits from improved alignment as we restore the balance of tension on your bony structure. With improved alignment, your nerve and blood supply are able to function better and your body can continue to do what it was designed to do: self-heal and self-regulate.
I believe in the healing power of movement for body, mind and spirit. Before training in osteopathy, I enjoyed a career as a professional dancer, dance teacher and Pilates instructor.
I was born in Nelson, BC where I have lived on and off over the years. I also spent many years in Montreal (Tiotià:ke) and near the (Tenàgàdino Zibi- Gatineau River) in Quebec. I am fluent in French and English. It has been a long-term project of mine to lay my roots back in the Kootenays and I am thrilled to be in Nelson, offering osteopathic treatment in a building that my father restored in the 1980s, on the traditional territories of the Ktunaxa and Sinixt nations.
