How are you feeling these days?

If it feels like the stress levels have ramped up, that’s okay. Noticing what’s happening is an important part of navigating the way forward.

If life feels like it’s getting to be too much, I invite you to slow down. To notice what’s happening in your body. Notice your breathing.

The cycle of stress can spin round and round, and this may be overwhelming at times.

The good news is that just by noticing what’s happening, you can begin to create a shift towards more balance.

This may involve getting to bed earlier, limiting or reducing screen time, eating regular and nourishing meals, walking in nature, or ensuring you are properly hydrated.

It may also involve asking for support. From a friend, from a therapist, or from a practitioner.

I am here to be of support, so if that is what may help you please reach out.

Can you feel the change?

That nip in the air, it means Autumn is almost here.

In Chinese Medicine, Autumn is the season of the Lungs. This means it’s extra important to support your lungs as they are more susceptible to imbalance during this season.

Emotionally, the Lungs are connected with sadness and grief. These emotions are a natural part of our existence. Collectively, we are grieving the loss of so much.

Being able to process grief and sadness enables the lungs to function more optimally.

Conversely, holding onto grief and sadness for extended periods contributes to depleted lung energy.

The good great news of the day is that there are so many ways to support your beautiful lungs.

Conscious breathing is a simple and accessible way to support your lungs.

Stretching, yoga, Qi gong, walking in nature and any kind of movement that you enjoy is a boon for your lungs. Remember to notice your breath during all of these activities.

For those moving through deep grief and sadness, somatic therapy may also be a tremendous support. (I can refer out for somatic therapy if you are looking for this).

Dry brushing the skin is a fantastic way to support skin health (which is directly connected to lung health), as well as bolstering your immune system.

Try adding cauliflower, potatoes, turnips, parsnips, almonds, daikon, apples, pears, oats, sesame seeds, onion, garlic, or white peppercorn to your diet.

As well, leafy greens and organic veggies (cooked) are a great way to nourish and support your body and lungs.

Move towards more warming foods, and away from cold and cooling foods (and drinks). Add warm herbal teas and stay hydrated.

Herbal medicines are also fantastic. There are so many great herbs, but I’d recommend working with a licensed practitioner to craft a formula that’s appropriate for your unique constitution.

Remember you are never alone, and that support is always available.

Let’s face it, we all need support in this life. Often times it can feel like we are walking through the chaos of this life alone, but the truth is there is so much SUPPORT available.

All you have to do is ask. And then LEAN IN.

As someone who is fiercely independent, I realize that leaning in for support can be difficult for many of us.

And there can be all kinds of reasons why we might resist reaching for support.

I want you to know that not only is there support available (in myriad forms), but that you are so worthy of support.

I am but one person who is offering support….. and there are so many more!

If you’re reluctant to ask for help and lean in for support, I invite you to try something different…. I invite you to be willing to receive the support that is being offered.

Because you are worthy of it.

And I think we can all use some extra support these days.

It is always an honour to be in service, and I feel very grateful for all of the beautiful souls who choose to work with...

Listen to the water, you can feel the cooling effects of its powerful Spirit. I like many of you am praying for water in the form of rain 🌧 to help cool and calm the fires and smoky skies.

I was once taught that no prayer ever goes unheard by the Creator. So please keep offering your prayers in whatever form feels most authentic. Each and every prayer counts 🙏🙏🙏

And if you feel exhausted by all of the smoke, heat and repressive energy it can bring I am here as a support.

Let’s keep leaning on each other for support, because it’s no coincidence we are all here together at this time.

Can you relate to the snail?

The snail understands the value of slow movement and teaches us how to use that movement to our advantage. It holds the teachings of patience, perseverance and respect. It asks us to be mobile and fluid as we move through life, always aware of how our actions or lack of them affect others. The trail we leave behind holds the history of who and what we are.

Are you drinking in the sunshine these days? I have been. And I must say, sunshine energy really fuels my soul. Like the way it fuels all of the beautiful flowers are in bloom right now.

And so, I give deep thanks for the sun (and the rain) and all of the magnificent forces of nature. For this season. And for the continual changing of seasons. These rhythms are always happening. As are the rhythms of our bodies.

Acupuncture helps our bodies find their rhythms if they’ve gone off track. It’s just one of the amazing benefits of this medicine. If you’d like some help finding your rhythm, or simply want to regulate your nervous system let me know. I love helping with this.

Are you making time for YOU? Is there a way you can create a small slice of sanctuary for your sweet self?

I find receiving treatment to be a beautiful way of inviting more care, more time to practise receiving ( especially if you’re someone who gives a lot - ie. moms, dads, teachers, healthcare workers, anyone in the healing field... really it’s most of us!).

We are in a seasonal transition time which means the body is working to adapt. Acupuncture can be a great way of supporting your body and mind through this seasonal shifting of gears.

We continue to navigate the intensity of these times as a collective. It’s a lot. Please take care of your sweet self as best you can. Rest. Hydrate. Get fresh air and move your body in a way that feels good. Turn off the news.
