Offering Neuro-Somatic Therapy and specializing in treating Repetitive Strain Injuries, Whiplash, Chronic Stress related headaches, and CPTSD; as well as Cranio-Sacral Therapy. Twenty minutes from Downtown Nelson, there’s a deep green watershed, with a quiet, sunny, warm room surrounded by trees and natural light, far from traffic noises, with a warm fire, and a heated massage table where you can
ground, center, and begin to release all that’s been weighing you down, or holding you back. I’ve been a certified Neuro-somatic Therapist for just over 20 years, with an additional previous 10 years of massage experience. Neuro-somatic therapy is a blend of Chinese myo-fascial bodywork, and Traditional Swedish Massage; with Taoist and Indigenous ethics and energy medicine, all blended together. I specialize in repetitive strain injuries, PTSD, and complex PTSD;
In the two decades since I completed my training I’ve studied various shamanic traditions, and energy work systems, integrating all this together as I went. I’ve also spent the last decade studying the evolutionary neuro-psychology of how shock trauma and developmental trauma is trapped and released (or not) in our nervous systems. Finally, I’ve recently completed a 2 year training in Biodynamic Cranio-Sacral therapy. I’ve chosen this profession in dedication of my life to healing for all; to help people fully meet and re-embody themselves. Neuro-somatic Therapy is a complete bodywork system, and highly effective for whiplash, repetitive strain injuries, chronic fascial injuries such as frozen shoulder or tennis elbow, and much more. But for relaxation massage it offers so much more than other modalities. To begin with, I’ll assess your state of tension in the moment, and stay focused on that state as it shifts, and keep my technique shifting with you to create, build, and maintain a deepening state of relaxation; this in contrast to following a set massage recipe, that’s the same for everyone, while I think about my shopping list or some other trivialities. Further, I do energy clearing work as we go to help you release stuck energies and emotions; including guided meditations or visualizations, if that’s what will help you on
that day, in that moment. Repetitive Strain Injuries and Whiplash
Tui Na is an ancient and traditional form of Chinese myo-fascial bodywork, and it’s the most effective modality for dealing with both repetitive strain injuries and whiplash. I practice mine in synthesis with Traditional Swedish Massage for a gentler, easier experience that is every bit as effective as the original modality if not moreso. I can reliably and consistently release the bound fascia and stuck muscles and end the patterns of tension, pain, and binding; permanently. Typically, I can eliminate 60-80%of symptoms in terms of pain, lack of mobility, and tension buildup in four to six 90 minute weekly sessions. For some deeper issues the timeline may be longer, but we will achieve measurable and lasting results. PTSD and Compex PTSD. You can find out who you are underneath the trauma responses that hijack your clarity, and make us say the untrue things that we regret. People with PTSD often mistake natural trauma responses for personality flaws, or life sentences. They are neither. Together, by blending indigenous healing traditions, adaptive cocreative energy work, and modern evolutionary neuro-psychology, we can uncover and release the roots of these patterns that can so disrupt our relationships and inner peace. In the case of shock trauma (which is to say trauma that occurs after the age of 18, to a relatively untraumatized adult) bringing our nervous systems back to our baseline states of equilibrium and coherence is a relatively straightforward matter of excercises including Focusing (developed by Eugene Gendlin), pendulation, and titration. This would include building a ‘happy place’; a safe and well resourced meditative space within to help process trauma. When the traumas began earlier, the job is more challenging; we must both heal our damage, and grow and develop our nervous systems to create the baselines of coherence, equilibrium, and integrity that allow us to heal, and even achieve post traumatic growth. I can guide you through this work, help you build the neurological pathways to healing, and teach you to do it safely on your own.
