Parenting calls on every part of us—our strengths, our challenges, and the pieces of our past that shaped us. This free group, open to parents living in the West Kootenays, is an invitation to use creativity as a way to:

🎨 Foster self-compassion
🌿 Understand how your past may impact your parenting
💫 Integrate unresolved experiences and make new choices

We’ll draw on principles from NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model) to explore the adaptive survival strategies we developed in childhood—so we can move toward more authentic connection.

Lupine Clinical Counselling is excited to share that you can now download Jane’s Mobile App for Clients. Add clinics to the app that you have visited before, manage and rebook appointments with your clinics using one central login. Download the app for Android or Apple devices.

When you open the app you’ll see a brief mag about creating your app account. Click the toggle below the msg once you’ve read it and then click the “set up my new sign in”. You’ll need to create a new email and password combination just for this app. Once set up just enter Lupine Clinical Counselling into “Add an Account” and you’ll be all set!

Lupine Clinical Counselling is offering another Post Partum Mental Health Group March 6, 13, 27 and April 3, 2025. Sessions are $50 (must register for all 4 sessions and you will be billed weekly). Group will be facilitated by Vanessa Dowell MSW, RSW and services covered by most group insurance. No children will be present in group. Please email to discuss an intake, register for group and/or speak with a past group participant.

At Lupine Clinical Counselling all of our counsellors are trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

This psychotherapy uses eye movements to help quickly alleviate symptoms, which are often related to past trauma. The bilateral eye movements help move those traumatic memories into long-term memory. Visualizations and somatic processing inspire positive emotion.

With ART you don't have to visualize distressing images related to trauma outside the session, the treatment is generally brief, and most of our clients find relief quickly!

At Lupine Clinical Counselling we specialize in using ART to work with Reproductive Trauma, Perinatal Mental Health and Birth Trauma.

We hope you follow our page so we can keep you up to date with news from Lupine Clinical Counselling, including new Group offerings and special events here at the practice.

We work with clients experiencing various stressors, grief, trauma, difficult life transitions and inter-personal relationship struggles that are impacting ones mood and functioning.

We are passionate about working with individuals and couples experiencing reproductive health issues and trauma, perinatal mental health struggles, birth trauma and supporting young families through parenting support and supporting the parent-child relationship.

Our counsellors are all masters trained and registered in British Columbia. We have direct billing with most insurance companies.

Lupine Clinical Counselling is excited to announce that Joanna Talecka has joined our team!

Joanna’s approach to counselling is rooted in empathy, compassion, acceptance, insight and empowerment. Through a holistic and client-centered approach Joanna will work with you to develop therapy focus and goals, to help build inner strength, create new self awareness, cultivate positive self-regard, and explore various thoughts and behaviors that may be limiting to one’s overall health and wellbeing. Joanna believes in the value of exploring all pieces of one's story and collaboratively finding effective coping strategies and inner resilience to move through any of life’s challenges.

Before completing her training to become a therapist Joanna has over 15 years working in the social services sector with adults, youth, children and families; most recently 10 years working at Nelson Community Services. Joanna was also previously a DONA certified doula and practiced as a Doula in the Kootenays.

Outside of the counselling realm Joanna raises her two young children alongside her partner on their homestead outside of Nelson. Joanna enjoys spending time with friends and family, gardening, swimming, reading and getting outdoors as much as possible.
