👩‍⚕️A little about Dr. Kayla Ens:

Dr. Ens completed her Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario with a concentration focus in Athletic Performance and Injury Management. She also served as the Athletic Trainer for the Laurier Varsity Cheer Team. In this role she treated onsite injuries during all practices and competitions including multiple concussions, knee injuries, facial injuries and back/neck compression injuries.

Dr. Ens went on to complete her Doctor of Chiropractic at Northeast College of Health Sciences, graduating in 2024. Dr. Ens holds certifications in ART Spine Level 1, Myo-Matrix Release Technique Upper and Lower Extremity, McKenzie Method Part A, and Whole Foods Nutrition Certificate.

Dr. Ens specializes in soft tissue techniques for many conditions such as neck, mid back and low back pain, sports injuries, headaches, shoulder injuries, TMJ disorders (jaw pain), and more. She utilizes soft tissue techniques, pelvic drop adjustments, along with traditional chiropractic adjustments to best help patients address their pain, move along their healing journey and prevent future injuries. Dr. Ens personally found this type of chiropractic care beneficial to her when she was a National Level Track Athlete growing up. Her goal is to provide the same care for others.

Movement is a key factor in strong immunity 💪

Movement keeps your lymphatic system moving, your circulation pumping and your muscles and bones strong!

And while we know the concept of movement is important to health, here are a few tips to keep it immune boosting.

1️⃣ MOVE EVERY SINGLE DAY - It doesn't have to be a 60 minute HITT class, but you do need to do it, and keep doing it every day. 📆

2️⃣ DON'T OVERDO IT - Very intense exercise all the time can actually overload your body and harm your immune system. Take rest days and change up your training intensity. 🏃‍♀️

3️⃣ MOVE OUTSIDE - Why not double up your exercise with time spent outdoors? Not only will you get the hit of fresh air (which has positive impacts on your health, immunity and mental health), you'll also get a dose of Vitamin D. 😎

Hip pain often limits physical activities such as walking, running, squatting and going up and down stairs. 🚶‍♂️

It can also create problems with sleeping and sitting positions. 🛌

Depending on what the source of the hip pain is, symptoms can be felt in a number of different regions which may include:
▶ the low back,
▶ deep in the hip joint,
▶ on the outer aspect of the hip,
▶ in the groin,
▶ at the front of the thigh,
▶ and in the buttocks.

Does your neck get sore after scrolling?
Here are 3 tips to help.

🤳 Raise Your Screen!
Holding your phone or device at eye level can help prevent the posture that adds an extra 40lbs of stress on our necks. If you’re using a laptop try getting a second monitor and adjust the height. 💻

🙆‍♂️ Take Breaks
Try to take a 2-3 minute break every half hour to take some strain off your neck. Get up and move around (without your phone!). Doing gentle neck stretches can also be helpful. ⌚

🛑 Take Pain as a Warning Sign
If you experience pain in your neck, between the shoulder blades, numbness or tingling in the arms, or frequent headaches, there may be a more serious issue going on. Pay attention to these warning signs and make changes to reduce or eliminate any head-forward posture straining your neck.
