I (Alissa) have been busy these past few months👆🏻
I love learning! Especially about pelvic health! Trying to keep up to date with the latest research is important to me. These past few months I have taken the following courses:
✅ Taken a deeper dive into Endometriosis with: “Endometriosis 101. Moving Towards Better Care”. Pelvic health physiotherapy is an integral part of treating this chronic pain condition. If you have endometriosis or suspect that you may, you should consider seeing a pelvic health physiotherapist for better pain management.
✅ Taken: “Pain Neuroscience Education Applied to Childbirth”. How can we better manage the potential of pain during labour and delivery? Did you know that patients who understand how pain works and why it is happening, tend to experience less pain? These benefits are greater when education is combined with other strategies for managing pain. I am able to educate patients about pain in general, and specifically about pain during childbirth. I also go through different strategies/tools that can be used during labour to help manage discomfort. My goal is to contribute to a positive birthing experience for birthing persons in our community.
✅ Taken: “Clinical Update: Stress Urinary Incontinence and Pelvic Organ Prolapse Research Review and Management”. This was a GREAT little course, highlighting some interesting new findings in the literature over the past 6 years. If you are leaking urine due to coughing, sneezing, jumping, and/or laughing or have bothersome symptoms from a prolapse (pressure, pulling pain in abdomen, heaviness etc) I would love to assist you in your care!
