Discipline should NOT be abusive. And punishment shouldn’t be either.
Yes, I understand the psychology and the history behind how some of these practices became normalized. But it’s 2026. As a community, we have a responsibility to stop calling abuse “discipline” and start naming it for what it is.
There are other tools. Healthier tools. Effective tools.
And while we’re here — many of the people perpetuating harm are carrying unhealed wounds themselves. Hurt people hurt people.
But we cannot continue doing to our children what we know hurt us.
Healing is available. Accountability is necessary. And our kids deserve better. 💛
