What a weekend at Braid Studios!

From the Rolling Gallery trucks parked at the side of the building, to our open studios buzzing with creativity — this Crawl was one to remember.

Thank you to everyone who climbed the stairs or took the elevator, met our artists, and explored the Gathered: A Collective of Cloth and Story Art show. We loved seeing so many of you connect with art in all its forms — from the young couple who bought their very first artwork for their home, to the kids proudly choosing cards and stickers, to the collectors who added new pieces to their walls.

Your curiosity, conversations, and support mean the world to our artists and to this creative space.

Here’s to community, creativity, and the connections that keep art alive. Until next time — our doors (and hearts) stay open.

Here we go!
The U-Haul art trucks are rolling in and setting up for this weekend’s New West Cultural Crawl — and yes, they’re part of the Braid Rolling Gallery! Doors open at 11.

Pop by 321 Sixth Street, check out the artists in the trucks along Blackford Street, then head inside and take the elevator up to our 3rd floor Loft to visit Braid Studios.
You’ll find over twenty artists opening their creative spaces and welcoming you in.

See you today and tomorrow, we open 11–5pm!

Introducing The Braid Rolling Gallery

We are thrilled to share some big news: Braid Studios is debuting The Rolling Gallery Art Show at the New West Cultural Crawl (Oct 4–5)!

What’s the Rolling Gallery? Imagine moving trucks transformed into mobile galleries — colourful, immersive, and right on the street outside Braid Studios. Inspired by a New York project that turned heads in 2024, we’ve reimagined it here in New Westminster to spotlight our incredible Braid alumni artists:

Tony Durke – evocative works & sharp social commentary
Bradford Lambert – explorations of colour, including his Serendrippity series
Iris Mes Low – magical landscapes that invite meditation and wonder .iris.paints

With our public studio space nearly at capacity, this pop-up was the boldest way we could make room for more artists and more community. It’s a first for New West, and we hope the start of something even bigger in years to come.

What an incredible evening at the opening of Gathered: A Collective of Fabric-Inspired Works!

Our five visionary artists completely transformed the Studios into an immersive world of textiles, textures, and storytelling. From kitchens and clotheslines to soft gathering spaces, the community of circus, to grief of loss, and vintage pieces that remind us of home, each room invited us to slow down and think about the way we gather and connect.

We’re so grateful for the energy, conversation, and support for the throng of visitors brought.

Couldn’t make it? You can still experience the show during the New West Cultural Crawl on October 4 & 5, 11am–5pm at Braid Studios.
