You’re just someone whose heart hasn’t learned how to go numb.
Someone who still feels the ache of headlines, the quiet sadness of strangers,
the beauty of small kindnesses that most people rush past.

The truth? The world needs hearts like yours —
hearts that notice, that soften, that care even when it hurts.
Because feeling deeply isn’t a flaw —it’s proof you still care in a world that hardens hearts

So if the weight of it all has you weary,
breathe.
You were never meant to carry the world alone —only to remind it what compassion still sounds like. 💛

Today marks World Mental Health Day.

Today is a reminder that our minds matter just as much as our bodies. Mental health is not a luxury, it is a right — one that every person deserves access to, no matter where they come from or what they’re facing.

I am calling all individuals, communities, colleagues, friends, neighbours to find ways to intensify our efforts to create a world where mental health is valued, protected, and accessible for all.

If you are in your mental health journey, please remember:

✨ You are not alone
✨ Seeking help is strength, not a weakness.
✨ Together, we can break the silence and the stigma surrounding mental health.

Even in the face of adversity, hope is possible. Healing is possible. A brighter, healthier world IS possible. 💫

Let’s keep pushing for a future where everyone feels safe to say, “My mental health matters.”

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is real. If you’re feeling stuck in the mud, you’re not alone. Grab your light lamp, your cozy blanket, and your support squad—we’re getting through this together.

This season might feel heavy, but you don’t have to carry it alone. Healing is still happening—even on snowy days.

June marks National Indigenous History Month. This is a time to pause and dedicate time to honour the legacies, traditions, and invaluable contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities in Ontario and across Canada.

Take the opportunity to get involved in attending local events, supporting Indigenous tourism, businesses, and artists, and commit to learning more about Indigenous heritage in your community.

We all have a role in deepening our collective understanding of Indigenous cultures and experiences. Only through knowledge and understanding can we work toward making reconciliation possible.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟

I am delighted to share an important milestone in my professional development. I have successfully completed my training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapeutic technique renowned for its effectiveness in healing complex trauma and transforming the negative belief of self. This accomplishment represents a significant addition to my therapeutic skillset, enabling me to facilitate profound healing and transformation for my clients facing complex trauma.

At BeYou with Candidar, we are committed to making our services accessible and accommodating. We are pleased to offer direct billing with most insurance providers that allow it and provide a sliding scale payment option for those without extended health benefits.

To discover how EMDR can support your path to healing, I invite you to book a complimentary 15-minute consultation via https://beyoutherapy.janeapp.com/

No matter the storm, your roots run deep 🌊➡️🏝️

Life has a tendency to throw us into situations we think we can’t come back from only to remind us of the strength we carry within. I was reminded of this truth this week (as I was challenged in ways that I never expected). I thought I’d share this reminder with anyone struggling to see the inner strength as you work to build the world you’ve dreamt of. 💪✨

Share this message with someone who needs to hear it today. And if you've conquered challenges of your own, drop your ❤️ below. We rise by lifting others. 🙌❤️

April is World Autism Month, an annual opportunity for dedicated conversations about autism spectrum disorder. According to Autism Speaks Canada, Autism touches more than 70 million people globally. Approximately 1 in 50 children and youth are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Canada and this number continues to grow. As a neurodiversity affirming parent, these stats are personal for me.

To all the caregivers on this journey, I know the journey of caring for a child with neurodivergent needs can be likened to climbing a mountain - it’s challenging, it’s exhilarating, and it’s filled with unexpected twists and turns because you’re climbing that mountain carrying an extra load. The long therapy sessions, the financial strain, the battles with the education system, the constant worry about the future - they can all seem overwhelming. You might often feel like you’re teetering on the edge, unsure of your footing, unable to see the path ahead.

I hope you can find a way to see the beauty also present in this journey. Each day, we get to experience love in its purest form - absolutely unfiltered. We learn about the strength of the human spirit, the power of persistence and perseverance and the joy in celebrating every small victory. We become fierce advocates, not just for our children, but for all individuals with special needs. We learn that while our journey may be tough, it is also filled with moments of triumph.

If you’re nodding your head and relate to this, follow along. The founding principle at BeYou with Candidar is acceptance. Our promise is that we will accept every individual as they are, embracing their needs as equal, valid, and whole. Together, let’s embark on a journey towards self-love and acceptance, recognizing that we are all enough, just as we are. 💛

With hope & optimism,
BeYou

Goodbye 2023

As some anxiously await the arrival of 2024, I hope we all took time to reflect on 2023 and all it had to offer.

For this therapist, I noticed that as December approached, I was finding myself confronted once again with a familiar struggle. For many, this month symbolizes celebration, festivity, and togetherness, but for me, it remained a poignant reminder of battles past and present. The past few years have been an uphill climb, but this month, the mountain seemed steeper, the path more treacherous. Sometimes, it is in taking time to reflect that you can find yourself and find healing.

I know I’m not alone in this journey. Let me reassure anyone in this same place that it’s okay. It’s okay to feel the weight of expectation and to come up short. It’s okay to not always be the rock for others, but to sometimes need a rock to lean on. So, as this year draws to a close, I had to come here and extend my hand and hope that we can continue to walk this path together, sharing in our struggles and in our triumphs. I remain optimistic that 2024 will be filled with hope, healing, and resilience for all.
