Intrusive thoughts? Here’s how to take their power away. 🧠✨

Intrusive thoughts are involuntary, unwanted, persistent, and/or disturbing thoughts or urges that can pop into your mind unexpectedly, but they don’t define you.

Try these 5 steps to respond with clarity and self-compassion:

1️⃣ Don’t fight the thought
Trying to block it out gives it more power. Instead, notice it, then allow it to pass through.
2️⃣ Remind yourself: “Thoughts aren’t facts”
Intrusive thoughts don’t reflect who you are. They’re just mental noise.
3️⃣ Label it: “That’s an intrusive thought.”
Recognize when you have an intrusive thought, then label it as such to give yourself distance from it.
4️⃣ Bring your focus back
Gently redirect your attention to something grounding, like your breath, a sound, or a task.
5️⃣ Talk it out
Talk with someone you trust to explore what’s beneath the thoughts and find lasting relief.

It’s called Mindful Noting, a simple technique that helps you acknowledge what’s going on inside without judgment.

By pausing, labeling your thoughts or feelings (like “worrying,” “planning,” or “feeling sad”), and returning to your breath or surroundings, you can create space between you and your inner chatter.

🌿The goal isn’t to stop thoughts, just to notice and name them. This small shift in awareness can lead to big changes in how you relate to your mind.
