Consistent and calming bedtime routine can be incorporated as early as day 1. From the moment you bring your baby home your bedtime routine will be a time for feeds and cuddles, and an incredible time for bonding and preparing your baby for a night of restful sleep. What’s Going On:

Your baby, now 1 year old may be taking some wobbly steps and babbling up a storm. They may have also found some new independence. This is also about the time that they begin to need a little less daytime sleep.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What You Can Do:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you see your little one taking a long time to fall asleep for the second nap, consistently, it may be time to start weaning them off of the morning nap. Do this slowly! We want to be sure that it is that they need less of a morning nap and not all of the new skills getting in the way. Take your time. The process of moving from 2 naps to 1 can take a few months.

When our little one wakes up early in the morning and you know that all of the basic sleep fundamentals are being practiced, the best thing you can do is just stick to their usual routine and your usual method. Consistency in the routine and the norm should remain as such no matter what season we are in. You may have to deal with an early riser for a few months but if your child is happy and content in their sleep environment there is nothing wrong with allowing them the chance to hang out on their own until it’s time to get up.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While we may not be able to take full control of wake time during the summer months there are a few things that you can do to possibly extend that early morning sleep in.
