Today Venvi Alexander Muir Retirement Home was in attendance to celebrate the 23rd anniversary service of Christ the King Graceland Church.

Archbishop Dorian Baxter has generously dedicated his time every Monday to lead a church service in our home, a meaningful tradition that many of our residents look forward to each week. It was a privilege to attend today’s celebration and show our appreciation for his continued kindness and spiritual support.

We are proud to be part of such a caring and connected community here in Newmarket!

We were delighted to welcome students from Pickering College’s Grade 11 English class to Venvi Alexander Muir Retirement Home!

As part of their class project, the students spent time with our residents asking thoughtful questions about their life experiences, memories, and personal stories. It was a meaningful intergenerational exchange filled with engaging conversations, laughter, and shared wisdom.

Moments like these highlight the power of storytelling and the importance of connecting across generations. Thank you to the students and teachers from Pickering College for making such a positive impact in our community!

Love was in the air (and in the glasses!) this Valentine’s Day 💕🍷

Our residents enjoyed a special wine cart service during dinner, sharing laughter, stories, and a toast to friendship, romance, and beautiful memories. Moments like these remind us that love and connection only grow stronger with time. ❤️

Happy Valentine’s Day to all our wonderful residents, families, and friends! ❤️

Today, our home celebrated love by taking a beautiful trip down memory lane. We proudly displayed residents’ wedding photos on our front table, sharing cherished memories, heartfelt stories, and plenty of smiles. It was so special to reflect on the love stories that have shaped so many incredible lives.

We also enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s party filled with yummy treats and great company, made even more magical by the wonderful musical talents of Cara Chisholm. Her music had everyone tapping their feet and singing along!

Today our team completed First Aid and CPR training to ensure we’re always prepared to provide the highest level of care. Staff refreshed best practices for CPR, choking response, and other essential first aid procedures, keeping our skills up to date and our residents safe.

Ongoing training like this helps us maintain a secure, supportive, and responsive environment for the seniors who call our community home!

Fun fact: During CPR, the beat of the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive” helps pace chest compressions at the correct rhythm, another tool our team learned to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency.

A new walking route brought a bit of a challenge today, but even more smiles! We’ve been expanding our exercise repertoire with a wide variety of options, chair yoga, Zumba, and dance classes, and we’re excited to add tai chi to our February 2026 calendar. Movement for every body! 😊💃
