What Exactly is Breath Work?

Breathwork is a simple yet powerful way to improve how we feel—both physically and mentally. By practicing different breathing techniques, we can:

āœ… Reduce stress
āœ… Calm our minds
āœ… Feel more grounded

Today, we’re going to focus on one of my favorite techniques: the 4-7-8 breath.

The 4-7-8 Breathing Technique
It’s super easy and only involves four steps:

1ļøāƒ£ Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds.
2ļøāƒ£ Hold that breath for 7 seconds.
3ļøāƒ£ Exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 seconds.
4ļøāƒ£ Pause for a moment before your next inhale.

This technique is amazing for calming the nervous system and promoting relaxation.

Let’s Breathe Together
🌿 Find a comfortable position—sitting or lying down.
🌿 Close your eyes if that feels good to you.
🌿 Let’s begin… (Guide them through 2-3 rounds of 4-7-8 breathing.)
Take a moment to notice how you feel. You might already sense a bit more calm or clarity settling in.

The 4-7-8 breath has some fantastic benefits:

Tips for Practicing Breath Work
šŸ•°ļø Try to do this twice a day—morning and evening work well!
🌿 Find a quiet space where you can really focus.
šŸ”„ Stay consistent—the more you practice, the more benefits you’ll notice!
