The construction to expand Southlake Health’s Emergency Department is officially complete – creating more space, improving patient flow, and enhancing safety for everyone who walks through the doors of our ED.

Built in 2003 to support just over 80,000 visits a year, Southlake’s Emergency Department now sees more than 120,000 visits annually. To address our community’s most urgent healthcare needs, Southlake expanded the space. This is one of the many ways Southlake is delivering leading edge care, close to home at our Davis Drive campus.

Southlake Health and the Southlake Foundation are proud to share our 2024/25 Annual Report, highlighting the people, place, and performance that continues to drive leading edge care, close to home.

This past year marked a significant milestone as Southlake celebrated its 100th anniversary commemorating a century of care, innovation, and its deep connection with the communities it serves. From humble beginnings as York County Hospital, Southlake Health has grown into a vital health system serving some of Canada’s fastest growing and aging populations.

Focused on addressing the care needs of tomorrow, Southlake also launched its Strategy for the Decade Ahead – a bold, ten-year roadmap to guide its transformation into a Distributed Health Network.

The progress made this year was only possible thanks to the dedication of Southlake’s people, the strength of its partnerships, and the unwavering support of our caring communities.

In recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day and Indigenous History Month, a special celebration was held this week in Southlake’s Cancer Centre Garden. The event was organized by the Central Regional Cancer Program’s Indigenous team at Southlake.

Jared Big Canoe, an Anishinaabe cultural educator and traditional singer from Georgina Island First Nation, led the celebration with powerful songs, teachings, and storytelling.

We were honoured to welcome Jared, whose presence and wisdom brought deep meaning to the gathering and offered our teams a valuable opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is a time to recognize and celebrate the history, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We encourage everyone to take time to learn, listen, and reflect—not just today, but every day.
