It may have been raining outside, but the tropical vibes inside last week were in full swing! ☀️

Southlake’s Summer Beach Party Staff BBQ was a blast, even with a little rain! Staff, medical staff, volunteers, and learners came together for great food, games, prizes, and an ice cream truck treat, all set to the sound of a live DJ spinning summer hits. 🎶🍔🍦

It was the perfect way to wrap up summer and celebrate our incredible team. Thank you to everyone at Southlake for everything you do to provide leading edge care every day to the communities we serve. Your hard work, compassion, and commitment never go unnoticed. Your energy made it feel like sunshine all day long!

The Stanley Cup returned to Southlake Health! We welcomed back Sam Bennett, the Florida Panthers’ star forward and hockey legend. Sam shared his team’s incredible 2025 championship win with the patients and families in the Paediatric, Birthing, POGO, and Neonatal Intensive Care units. 💙🏆❤️

For our littlest patients, the visit was a moment of joy and excitement. Instead of coming to Southlake for treatments or tests, they got to meet a hometown NHL hero, take photos with the Cup, and experience a memory that will last a lifetime.

We are so grateful to Sam Bennett, his family, the Florida Panthers, and the Keeper of the Cup for bringing smiles, laughter, and hometown pride to our hospital community. Thank you for generously sharing your time and talent!

Southlake’s Emergency Department just got bigger, creating space for better care when it matters most.

Photo 6-9: More space makes it easier for our team to provide a better care experience for both patients and families. Our new patient consultation rooms offer comfort, privacy, and a quiet space for conversations with care teams.

Photo 10-11: Our new patient registration space is designed for efficiency – getting you where you need to go. We’ve redesigned it to help patients better move through the Emergency Department while maintaining some of the shortest ED wait times in Ontario. We’re proud to say that our Davis Drive site can now offer an even better care experience right from the start of your visit.

Photo 12-16: Our expanded waiting area offers more room and comfort for patients and families, creating a welcoming space while supporting a smoother flow through the Emergency Department.

Photo 17-19: Southlake has added more triage and patient assessment areas to ensure privacy while creating a permanent screening and pre-triage space.

The expansion was designed to improve flow, increase capacity, enhance security, and create a more welcoming space for patients, families, and our team. Whether care happens at Southlake or in the community, it all starts with getting you to the right place, right away.

In 2023, Southlake Health began a two-year project to transform our food services to enhance patient care and the experience for patients, visitors, staff, and medical staff. Working closely with our partner Compass Group Canada, we elevated our food offerings with freshly cooked meals that provide nutrition and comfort and meet every patient’s care needs. Retail dining spaces have also been refreshed and expanded, offering modern, inviting places for patients, visitors, staff, and medical staff to enjoy a wide range of options — from a full-service Starbucks to Market Aquene Café’s chef-inspired international cuisine.

This hospital-wide transformation reflects Southlake's commitment to delivering leading edge care, close to home through every experience that supports healing.

The construction to expand Southlake Health’s Emergency Department is officially complete – creating more space, improving patient flow, and enhancing safety for everyone who walks through the doors of our ED.

Built in 2003 to support just over 80,000 visits a year, Southlake’s Emergency Department now sees more than 120,000 visits annually. To address our community’s most urgent healthcare needs, Southlake expanded the space. This is one of the many ways Southlake is delivering leading edge care, close to home at our Davis Drive campus.
