In my 20’s I was over 280lbs, with so many obstacles in the way preventing me from taking care of myself, from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) diabetes, depression, anxiety and cervical cancer but most of all I am a mother of four that completely understands the importance moving your body! Now, at 45 years old and a size 8, with my health all in tact and most of my sanity (lol) I am the healthiest I’ve ever been, mentally and physically! I’m a firm believe those two go hand in hand! Fitness has always been a part of my life from a young age, despite what size I was! It wasn’t until I was in my late 30’s I decided to take my love for fitness and make a huge career change! I have my Certification for MMA and Kickboxing. I am a Certified Personal Trainer, Cycle Instructor and Certified Nutrition & Wellness Coach working at a local women’s gym in Newmarket, Function Studios Inc. In my “5️⃣0️⃣’s” Era 🖤

Wow! How did I get here?

I mean, I feel like I was 20 like 5 minutes ago (my bones might say otherwise 🤣)

But as I look back 50 years of my life, I can honestly say it’s been a wild ride.

One I’m grateful for.

Everything from the good, the bad the pretty stuff and all the yucky stuff in-between

To living different lives- multiple times

From being every size and hair colour under the sun~ thin, unhealthy, overweight, strong, blonde, red head, black hair

To being insecure about my flaws, to learning to love myself despite them.

To finally being happy and healthy mentally, physically and emotionally at 50!

It’s a wonder how I ever made it here !

You know how?

Unimaginable desire & determination to love myself.

Fully.
All of me.
Every part.
The good.
The bad and the really weird s**t.

I’m unapologetically imperfect and that’s perfectly fine with me 🖤

WHAT IS PCOS?

Many people think PCOS is just “irregular periods.”
The reality? So much worse.

It’s stubborn weight gain no matter how clean you eat.
It’s painful cystic acne and growing hair in places you don’t want it while the hair on your head falls out in clumps.
It’s chronic pain. Inflammation. Migraines. Itchy skin
Exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix.
A s*x drive that’s disappeared.
And hormones so out of whack you don’t even feel like yourself.

It’s struggling with infertility, month after month, while people ask when you’re having kids.
It’s hearing doctors dismiss you, over and over again:
“Just lose weight.”
“Try birth control.”
“Work out more.”
As if that hasn’t already been done a thousand times.

As if willpower alone can fix a hormonal war inside your body.

It’s fighting a battle that doesn’t show on the outside.
But still, somehow, getting up every day and showing up, even when your body is working against you.

To the women fighting PCOS..

You are not lazy.
You are not broken.
You are powerful as hell.

And your struggle?
It’s real.

Fat loss can feel hard, never ending and sometimes short lived.

Healthy fat loss takes time.

These tips are to help you get on the right track.

1. Adding lean protein to your daily regimen can help you manage your appetite and hold muscle mass as you lose fat. 🍗 🥚 🥩

2. Non- starchy Vegetables are the best Carbohydrates to add to each meal to keep you feeling fuller for longer. 🥗 🥕 🥬

3. Resistance training builds muscle while burning fat 🏋️‍♂️

4. Getting a good quality sleep can avoid residual cravings and over eating. 😴 🛌

Sleep is when your body resets and recovers. Which is when the magic happens 😉

5. Consistency and Patience are key. Being consistent and patient with your health regiment of food, exercise, sleep, rest & recovery and stress management is better than being perfect. It’s the only way to continually see results. 🥇
