At Bridge Optometry, our focus is on providing our patients with top quality eyecare!

Since 1982 Dr. Terry Chalaturnyk, Optometrist, has been providing professional excellence in family eye care to Newmarket, Aurora and the surrounding area. Through the extensive visual health assessment for children, adults and seniors, he and his partner, Dr. Allison Bridge, provide the liaison between the primary eye health practitioner, the family practitioner, and the health care specialist su

ch as an ophthalmologist. Using state of the art diagnostic equipment such as the Optomap, OCT and Visual Field Analyzer, the detection and monitoring of such conditions as Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetes and Cataracts is provided to our patients. Our onsite optical dispensary, housing over 800 of the latest in spectacle frames and our optical finishing lab provide our patients with the complete eye care experience.

💧 In order for our eyes to remain lubricated, we want our tear film to STAY on the front surface of our eye!

🔥 BUT if our tear film evaporates TOO QUICKLY, our eyes will dry out! Resulting in symptoms such as: fluctuating vision, burning, tearing…

✔️ In order for our tear film to remain stable, the meibomian glands in our eyelids must secrete a lipid-like substance INTO the tear film. This lipid layer coats the tear film to ensure that the tear film doesn’t evaporate too quickly!

‼️ BUT sometimes the meibomian glands get clogged! That’s where WARM COMPRESSES can help!

👁️ HOW: apply warm compress to the eyes for approximately 10 minutes. Then massage your eyelids for a few minutes to help express the oils!

At Bridge Optometry we prefer the Bruder Mask. It’s most effective in providing your eyelids the MOIST HEAT to help unclog those meibomian glands!
