Laura Terryberry RMT is originally from Thorold and now calls Fort Erie home, where she lives with her boyfriend, their son and their beloved fur-babies. A dedicated massage therapist since 2010, Laura brings a wealth of experience from working in a wide variety of settings throughout her education and career.

She enjoys working with a diverse range of clients—from children to retirees, from athletes recovering from sports injuries to weekend warriors, and from those dealing with everyday aches to those simply seeking a bit of well-deserved TLC.

Laura does not subscribe to the “no pain, no gain” approach. While some techniques may challenge your comfort zone, she believes strongly in respecting the body's pain signals. More pressure isn’t always better or more effective. Every person is unique, with individual needs and preferences, and she tailors her treatments accordingly.

To Laura, massage therapy doesn't have to be either strictly therapeutic or purely relaxing—it can, and should, be both. She sees herself as a partner in your wellness journey, helping guide you toward a pain-free, balanced life. But she also emphasizes the importance of self-care—encouraging you to stretch, strengthen, and stay in tune with what your body is telling you.

Osteopathy as we know it began with Andrew Taylor Still (1828 – 1917), who introduced its principles in 1874. Still’s main idea — that the human body was much like a machine, one that would function well if all of its parts were in a proper mechanical relationship — was unique compared to the medical thinking at the time.

What is different about the osteopathic practitioner is their thought process towards health vs. dis-ease. The difference is found in the following philosophical concepts and principles of osteopathy:

1️⃣ The body is a unit — The regulation, coordination + integration of the body through multiple systems is often referred to as the principle of body unity. According to this principle, abnormalities in the structure or function of one part of the body may unfavorably influence other parts, and eventually, the body as a whole.

2️⃣ The body is capable of self-regulation, self-healing, and health maintenance. — The body has an inherent capacity to maintain its own health and to heal itself. This principle implies that there must be adequate circulation to and from all tissues of the body, and there must be proper nervous system function in order to coordinate the actions of all of the body’s organs and systems.

3️⃣ Structure + function are reciprocally interrelated — The musculoskeletal system can reflect changes in and can produce changes in other body systems. A large importance is placed on the role of the musculoskeletal system in health and disease. The interrelationship between structure and function is one of the most unique aspects of osteopathy.

4️⃣ Rational treatment is based upon an understanding of the first three principles — Treatment is based on the principles of body unity, self-regulatory and self-healing mechanisms, the somatic component of the disease, the interrelationship between structure and function, and the appropriate use of manipulative treatment.
