As a way to calm down big feelings we did some bilateral drawing in session today. But what does that actually mean? Bilateral drawing just means drawing with both hands simultaneously. By doing this we do a few things:
🧠 We are warming up our brains by activating both hemispheres
☺️ We are self soothing through the rhythmic motions
🎨 We are releasing the expectations of creating “good” art and just focusing on the process

🏳️‍🌈 This past year I was so honoured to be able to visit the Stonewall National Monument in New York City.

🏳️‍🌈Amidst the historic backdrop of Greenwich Village, the iconic Stonewall Inn stood as a beacon of resilience on June 28, 1969, when the Stonewall Rebellion took place. Forever changing the course of the LGBTQIA+ movement.

🏳️‍🌈 The events that transpired on this day became one of the most pivotal moments in the fight for full equality before closing its doors.

🏳️‍🌈In 1990 the bar re-opened and remains so to this day! A space of celebration, remembrance, and joy.

🏳️‍🌈In 2016 a designated a national monument at the site of Stonewall Rebellion and the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center (SNMVC), the first LGBTQIA+ visitor center within the National Park System was founded!

Today, Wednesday, September 20th, 2023, groups all across Ontario and Canada are forming a protest opposing the teaching of 2SLGBTQIA+ content in schools.

Not talking about q***r identities does not protect children, but instead makes people hide in shame, increases their likelihood of su***de, depression, anxiety, addiction and many other negative health impacts.

To remove Q***r education from the classroom is an attack on the autonomy of all of the students in those classrooms.
