March Lymphedema
AWARENESS MONTH
Up to 10 MILLION Americans (100 Million Worldwide) suffer from Lymphedema, making it more common than MS, Parkinsons, and breast cancer combined.
Anyone can get it, especially after a surgery or injury to the lymph nodes.
Lymphedema is not fat, it is a fluid build up that can occur anywhere on the body, most commonly in the arms, legs, and stomach.
It can cause misshapen body parts, pain, and wounds that are susceptible to infection.
It can occur at any age from birth to death.
Many general practitioners mistake it for obesity or edema.
There is no cure, few treatment options, and ve very little awareness.
Despite its prevalence, it is grossly underfunded.

One of the most refreshing qualities about our team is that they show up fully in who they are, which invites those around them to do the same.

It reminds me of the Marianne Williamson quote "There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
