Life doesn't always happen the way we wish it would. Sometimes we find ourselves struggling to find our passion. Struggling to remember what makes us happy, what excites us. That is exactly what happened to me. After choosing to end a very unhealthy 18 year relationship I found myself with pretty much nothing, or so I thought at the time. I was living halfway across the country from my family, friends and home, Halifax, Nova Scotia. I had to leave behind my house and most of my possessions. I had to close my gift shop and declare bankruptcy which left me with no money or credit. I had to have surgery. I found myself out of a job and with no income. Then, I lost my two fur babies who had been by my side, loving me unconditionally my entire adult life. One by one, everything I loved and everything I had worked for my entire life disappeared. I felt lost and confused and downright depressed. No matter how many workshops I went to, or self help books I read, I just could not find anything that made me happy. I had forgotten how to BE happy. People would tell me things happen for a reason and that timing is everything. At the time, I couldn't think of a single reason that would warrant everything in my life to fall apart one by one. I felt sick inside. I didn't want to be around people. I didn't want to leave the safety of my apartment. I spent birthdays and holidays alone. I just couldn't find the energy and motivation to make things better, to start again. But I am HAPPY to say that one day, it happened. Hope. I started to feel it deep inside. I had hope that things could and would get better! I realized I really hadn't lost everything. I had my most important possession of all, myself! I knew that I had to stop waiting for happiness to find me. I was the only one who had walked in my shoes and I was the only one responsible for my own happiness. And this is where my journey down my own personal Road to Happy began. I'm going to be honest. There are good days and there are bad days. I get frustrated and angry sometimes. But, I have learned to love myself along the way and I am now my own biggest cheerleader! I now truly believe that things DO happen for a reason and that timing really IS everything. My experiences have molded me into the person I am today and have led me here. I am learning new ways every day to improve the quality of my life and I would like you to join me so that we can all inspire each other to live our very best life! Love and light,
