This horse came to me with hind end issues resulting in a stoppage of training and performance.
Through ancillary diagnostics a negative plantar angle and broken back hoof pastern axis (HPA) were identified and through observation the digital cushion was compromised and collapsed. This horse also presented sore in the hocks and pelvis.
The red lines indicate the dorsal wall and heel angles.
The yellow lines indicate the hoof pastern axis (HPA), left photo showing broken back, right photo is now aligned.
The green line indicates the trajectory of the coronary band, left photo showing a steeper angle and collapsing caudally, right photo showing appropriate angulation and straight from toe to heel.
The blue arrow indicates the improved health and function of the digital cushion, left photo collapsed and pointy, right photo increased volume and improved functionality.
The photos are of the first shoeing (left photo) and the third shoeing (right photo).
This horse has been started back into training with no discomfort and according to the trainer "a new found confidence in hind end engagement".

We've shown you them being fitted, applied and "squished" but we've never given them the introduction that they deserve so...

πŸ”΄ MOREAID SQUISH PADS 🟑

The MoreAid Squish Pad was designed and created by Kelvin Lymer a few years ago based on over 40 years of experience with horses around the globe, and supported by scientific research and modern developments in hoof care.

This fully 3D printed product has all the benefits of clog biomechanics but what is completely revolutionary is that how and where it supports is very much horse dictated.

The Squish Pad supports the entire foot, therefore distributing pressure more evenly and alleviating pain in high inflammation areas. With its innovative design the clog compresses and rebounds repeatedly, allowing the horse to reposition into the most comfortable stance time and time again. Because it encourages natural movement and hoof function, offering stimulation to all areas of the hoof, this promotes better circulation leading to increased growth (often at rates not seen before) and quicker recovery.

The MoreAid Squish Pad can be glued, casted or taped on, therefore is a totally non invasive application causing no further hoof damage or compromise. There are no concerns regarding concussion, it's cuffed design prevents further hoof trauma and it's unique sole makeup absorbs impact on every step. Relief is more often than not instantaneous post application.

All pads have a small recession/seated out sole area to alleviate pressure. Further depth can be created if required using our spacer system which does not affect the integrity of the pad or it's benefits in any way, but just offers a bit of extra "TLC" especially if there is a dropped sole or a shift in P3 positioning.

The Squish Pad is becoming famously known as a first aid solution for laminitis. It is helping ponies, horses and donkeys across the globe, some of which it has been their last hope. Thankfully its results are being noticed, with many farriers, vets and owners now jumping aboard the Squish movement and putting equines comfort first; taking the risk of trying something new and embracing change.

Often what is overlooked though is their use beyond laminitis. Poor growth, resections, thin soles, soft tissue inflammation, arthritic changes, bruised bones... They have all been helped by the Squish Pad, which offers comfort whilst still enabling full hoof function. For the majority it is a temporary rehabilitative option, but for some it is a permanent palliative aid that has vastly improved quality of life.

We are not a one solution fits all brand. There are cases where Squish Pads may not necessarily be suitable, but we are happy to discuss and always have an open door for advice, as well as a range of other products from modern clogs/hospital plate systems right back to traditional shoe setups.
