Today is International Psychotherapy Day! We're delighted to show you our 2 Registered Psychotherapists on staff, Alexandra and Tyler.

Psychotherapy is a process created by both a client and a psychotherapist to work on their goal. Through collaboration, treatment planning, creating goals, and deep levels of empathy, a client and therapist will work together on their mental health goals.

Tyler's the proud owner of Harris Psychotherapy and started the clinic over 4 years ago to promote access and support to people across Ontario. To date, there have been over 1000 Psychotherapy Sessions conducted at Harris Psychotherapy.

What is RN Psychotherapy? Let us tell you, because we're proud to have an RN on the team!

RN Psychotherapy is psychotherapy that is provided by a Registered Nurse. Through a combined knowledge of medications, symptoms, and recovery principles, they can help you find new coping skills to help you on your mental health journey. This is a unique service as not many clinics have an RN on staff, and we're proud to have one.

1 in 8 Canadians will suffer from anxiety in their lifetime. As part of our work, we wanted to share 5 free tips to help you begin to control your anxiety. Remember, we are always here to help you out! To book an appointment with one of our professionals, go to www.harrispsychotherapy.org, or email info@harrispsychotherapy.org. We still have 20-minute consultations available!

1) Take 2 breaths through your nose and one out your mouth, then repeat! This works through helping your body control its heart rate and slow it down so you can start to manage your situation.

2) Put ice below your eyes and hold it for at least 30 seconds. This works through shocking your body into a more relaxed state. Warning: Don't do this skill if you have any heart issues.

3) Take a brisk walk, 20 minutes if you can. These skills work by helping it release energy. The more energy your body can release, the better it can work through whatever might have made you anxious.

4) Tighten your muscles and then relax them. Similar to number 3, this skill will help your body release any residual stress that may have been lingering around. Take your time and go through each area of your body, even your face.
