Celebrating Leadership & Continued Strong Rural Voice đź’š

We are incredibly proud to share that Madison Boudreau, RN — Director of Quality, Patient Relations & Special Projects at Nipigon District Memorial Hospital — has recently been elected to the College of Nurses of Ontario Council representing Northwestern Ontario and appointed to the Discipline and Fitness to Practise Committee.

As a proud rural and local healthcare leader, this is an incredible professional achievement and a reflection of Madison’s leadership, integrity, compassion, and commitment to quality care, patient safety, and the nursing profession.

Madison’s election also helps ensure rural and Northern healthcare perspectives continue to have a voice within important provincial conversations shaping healthcare across Ontario.

As a small rural healthcare organization, we deeply value opportunities that support leadership growth, shared learning, and meaningful contribution beyond our local communities. Experiences like this not only support individual professional development, but also strengthen the knowledge, perspective, and leadership brought back into our organization and healthcare system overall.

Madison also begins this journey with the guidance and mentorship of NDMH Nurse Practitioner Grace Fox, whose full 10-year term of service with the College of Nurses of Ontario is soon coming to a close — reflecting the continued strength and contribution of rural healthcare leadership within our communities.

Beyond the title and achievement, we are proud to celebrate Madison as a leader, colleague, mother, and advocate who continues to bring both heart and dedication to the work she does every day.

Congratulations Madison đź’š We are proud of you and grateful for all you continue to contribute both locally and now provincially!

Honouring Leadership, System Contribution & Strong Rural Voice đź’š

Today, we want to recognize and celebrate NDMH Nurse Practitioner Grace Fox as her 10 years of service with the College of Nurses of Ontario is coming to a close with the completion of her full term on Council.

Throughout the past decade, Grace has contributed her time, experience, leadership, and voice through service on CNO Council and a number of committees — helping ensure rural and Northern healthcare perspectives were represented within important provincial conversations shaping the nursing profession and public trust across Ontario.

Most recently, Grace served on the College Council and Discipline and Fitness to Practise Committee — the same committee newly elected NDMH leader Madison Boudreau will now be joining as she begins her own journey with CNO.

As a small rural healthcare organization, we deeply value opportunities where local leaders can help contribute to broader system conversations while also bringing those experiences, insights, and learnings back to strengthen care within our organization and communities.

Grace is deeply respected not only for her provincial contributions, but for the steady leadership, clinical excellence, mentorship, compassion, and integrity she brings to her work every day. Her dedication to patients, colleagues, learners, system improvements, and community continues to have meaningful impact both within NDMH and far beyond it.

Thank you, Grace đź’š for your years of leadership, advocacy, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to rural healthcare. We are incredibly grateful for all you continue to contribute both locally and across Ontario.

Welcoming New Life, Holding Space as a Community đź’š

On behalf of the teams at Nipigon District Memorial Hospital, the Nipigon District Family Health Team, and our local physician group…

We are so happy to share some beautiful news.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Fairservice, Dr. Massei, and proud big sister Amelia on the safe arrival of their baby girl,

Eliana Margaret Lucia Massei.

In a small rural healthcare community, moments like these are shared by all of us. While this brings a temporary shift in physician availability, it also reflects something we deeply value—caring for the people who care for our community, in both their professional and personal lives.

As the Fairservice-Massei family takes this important time to rest, bond, and settle into life with their newest addition, our physician group and care teams—alongside visiting providers and partners—continue to work together to ensure care remains available and supported for our communities during this time. While it may look a little different, please know that a dedicated team is here, working collaboratively to support your care needs.

We appreciate the patience, understanding, and kindness that so many of you continue to show.

Please join us in sending warm congratulations and well wishes to the Fairservice-Massei family đź’š

Thank you, Kevin Holland - MPP for Thunder Bay - Atikokan, for supporting this important infrastructure investment for Nipigon. Strong municipal infrastructure plays a critical role in ensuring reliable essential services, including healthcare. For Nipigon District Memorial Hospital, investments like this help reinforce the foundation needed to support safe patient care today while also enabling future growth for our community.

We are also grateful to the Township of Nipigon — Mayor, Council, and staff — for their leadership and ongoing collaboration in helping move this project forward. Partnerships like this strengthen the systems our community relies on today while also supporting proactive planning for future growth, including our proposed 21-bed Long-Term Care expansion

Im pleased to announce that the province is investing $431,959 in critical water infrastructure to help support the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital!

Strong infrastructure plays an important role in supporting essential services like health care, while helping communities continue to grow and thrive. Investments like this help strengthen local systems that residents depend on every day.

Great to see this support going toward strengthening essential services in the Township of Nipigon and supporting the hospital and the people it serves.
