It’s finally time… welcome to our new Winnipeg space 🌲

As a reminder:
📍 Our Niverville location remains the same
📍 Our Winnipeg location has now moved

We know that change can take time—especially when it comes to the places where you feel safe and known. That’s why we’ve been so intentional in creating a space that feels calm, welcoming, and familiar, while also giving you a little more room to breathe.

From cozy corners to our coffee nook, every detail was chosen with care and with you in mind.

We hope this space becomes another place where you feel supported, seen, and at ease.

If you have any questions or need help navigating the transition, we’re here for you 💛

As counsellors, we are always trying to continue learning to best help our clients. Our therapist Raychel Algera is currently taking an Internal Family Systems trauma treatment program with Frank Anderson.

“Something I really walked away with today was Frank’s focus on self compassion, self acceptance, and gratitude and how these practices impact the brain. When we are actively incorporating these practices in therapy, and in our own lives, we are giving space for our brain to create new healthy neuro pathways which will help us to make long lasting changes!”

A way you could practice this healthy habit could be starting or ending your day by reflecting on the 3 things that you feel grateful for.

Sometimes the contempt we feel toward others is connected to something deeper within ourselves.
That’s why understanding your emotional activation patterns matters.

When you’re feeling heightened or overwhelmed, your role shifts:

Not to fix.
Not to confront.
Not to decide.
But to regulate.

What helps you feel calm?
What brings your system back down?

These are powerful questions worth exploring.

Because when you learn to soothe yourself, you create the foundation for better decisions—and healthier, more connected relationships. You have more compassion for yourself and for others.

Emotional regulation begins with one simple question:
“Where am I right now?”

Using a 0–10 emotional thermometer can help you build that awareness.

The important thing to remember?
Your scale is personal. There’s no “right” number—just your experience.

As you get familiar with your emotional patterns, you’ll start to notice the early signs of activation.

And that awareness is powerful.
Because when you notice sooner, you can respond more intentionally.

Check in with yourself today 🤍

Emotional regulation doesn’t start in the moment—it starts with awareness.

What’s your emotional temperature right now?

0 = calm and grounded
10 = overwhelmed and activated

The goal isn’t to always stay at a 0.
It’s to recognize when your number is rising—before it takes over.

When you learn your patterns, you create space.
And in that space, you get to choose your response.

Differences in close relationships are disappointing. What we often don’t realize is that the under current of criticism can drag us to the edge of the falls. Contempt, which pulls us over, has been shown to be the most destructive element a relationship can face.

Jolyn was leading a Mom’s Morning Out on March 18 on the danger of contempt and providing hope by offering counter ideas that keep us way upstream in the still, safe waters.

Contempt is one of the fastest ways to create distance in a relationship—but it often shows up physically before we even name it.

A subtle shift in posture.
A look.
A feeling in your body.

These are early signals worth paying attention to.

The encouraging part? You can interrupt the pattern.
Small physical shifts can lead to meaningful emotional change.

Awareness → Adjustment → Connection

03/18/2026

Contempt doesn’t just live in your thoughts—it shows up in your body first.

That slight lean back, the tightened posture, the lifted lip…
These small signals can quietly create distance in your relationships.

The hopeful part?
Awareness gives you a choice.

Shift your posture.
Square and soften your shoulders.
Maybe sit down.
Move toward connection instead of away from it.
