Wendy’s Story

My work experience is likely not unlike yours no matter which field of work you chose because the same elements of stress and overwork seem to be ubiquitous. I dealt with high-stress situations for 20 years; but failed to effectively manage my stress levels. Always trying in vain to achieve the fictitious “work-life balance” purported by HR during company interviews.

While keeping a positive outlook, I tried everything I could think of, including looking for a company that really walked the talk about work-life balance. I worked in Canada, the U.S. and Australia looking for the right climate, the right culture and the right balance.

Finally, in Australia where I had been active and maintained daily meditations, I was in a job where I worked long hours (sitting for long periods) for more than 2 years and ended up in such a poor state of health that I had difficulty walking up or down stairs and my lungs were weak.

Like many of you, I went to a variety of health professionals – without success. However, my last choice and the only one who helped me get healthy was a Chinese Medicine Practitioner named Xiao – to whom I am forever grateful. Not long after that, I decided to quit work in my field and enter a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) program – which was the life path right for me.
