It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dr. Gary Pearce. Dr. Pearce was a valued part of our practice and dedicated many years to caring for the eye health of our community with kindness, compassion, and professionalism.

He touched the lives of so many patients, staff, and colleagues, and his legacy will be remembered through the countless people he helped over the years.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, and all who knew him during this difficult time. He will be missed dearly.

Happy Earth Day! 🌱🌍

At our office, we believe caring for your vision goes hand-in-hand with caring for our planet. From reducing paper use by emailing your prescription and receipts to choosing eco-friendly products, we’re committed to making small changes that make a big impact.

Here are a few easy ways you can celebrate Earth Day:
👓 Recycle your old glasses
🌱 Choose reusable options such as water bottles and travel mugs over disposable
🚶‍♀️ Walk or bike when you can
💧 Be mindful of water use

Every small action adds up. Here’s to taking care of our planet, today and always. 💚

Clear vision. Healthier planet. Brighter future. ✨

Seeing clearly is just one piece of the puzzle.

Comprehensive eye exams go beyond reading letters on a chart. They help check your overall eye health and can catch silent conditions early, including:
👀 Glaucoma
✨ Macular degeneration
💧 Dry eye
❤️ Changes linked to diabetes or high blood pressure

Think of it as preventative care for your vision. Catching changes early helps protect your sight, improve comfort, and prevent bigger problems down the road. Your future vision deserves that extra care.

Ever notice how you can see your spreadsheet perfectly at 9 AM, but by 9 PM, your novel is a total blur? It’s not just tired eyes, it’s science.

The “sweet spot” for vision (the focal length) changes depending on what you’re doing:

💻 Office distance: Usually 20–30 inches away. Your computer monitor sits farther back to reduce neck strain.
📖 Bedtime distance: Usually 10–14 inches away. We tend to pull books/phones much closer when we’re propped up on pillows.

If you’re using the same pair of glasses for both activities, your eye muscles might be working overtime to help you focus. The result? Headaches, “heavy” eyelids, and losing your place in the story.

The fix: A dedicated pair of lenses set specifically for each activity.

Come on in to have a chat with our knowledgeable optical team about the best lens options to suit your lifestyle.

While these questions may feel like a high-stakes guessing game, the repetitive choices are an important part of your exam.

Here’s why your answer matters:
⚪️ Brain vs. machine: Technology gives us a baseline, but “1 or 2” tells us how your brain likes to process the image.
⚪️ Finding the endpoint: When they both look identical, it’s a sign we’ve found your unique prescription.
⚪️ The first choice: Your first instinct is usually the most accurate—don’t overthink it!
⚪️ Pro tip: If they truly look the same, tell us! That’s actually a very helpful answer.

Overdue for a prescription update? Book your 2026 exam with us today. 🗓️

After decades of dedicated care, laughter, and lasting impact on our community, we are both grateful, proud and little bittersweet to celebrate the retirement of two exceptional optometrists — Dr. Brian Barry and Dr. Carolyn Morland.

Since the 1980’s, Dr. Barry and Dr. Morland have been trusted pillars of eye care in North Bay, caring for generations of families with compassion, expertise, and genuine connection.

Dr. Brian Barry has been known for his thoroughness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to providing the highest standard of care. Outside the clinic, his love of hockey, fishing, and especially his family reflects the same passion and loyalty he brought to his patients every day.

Dr. Carolyn Morland will be remembered for her warm, caring nature and wonderful sense of humour that could brighten any exam room. Whether she was sharing a laugh with patients or stories from her travels and golf adventures, she made every visit memorable and personal.

Together, they have shaped our practice and touched countless lives over more than four decades. Their legacy of excellence, kindness, and professionalism will continue to inspire us.

While they will be greatly missed, we are pleased to share that Dr. Marco Roncone and Dr. Cynthia Warren will be continuing care for their patients, ensuring a seamless transition and ongoing commitment to the same high level of personalized, comprehensive eye care.

Please join us in wishing Dr. Barry and Dr. Morland a retirement filled with many birdies on the golf course, great catches on the lake, exciting travels, and precious time with family and friends.

Thank you both for everything you have given to your patients, your colleagues, and our community. Your impact will be felt for generations to come. 💙
