Grief lives in tandem with tremendous responsibility.
Not long after an epic loss, we are expected to return to work, take care of our families. To keep moving forward, in a world that doesn’t make space for the depth of what we're carrying.
I’ve come to see how rare it is through my work and lived experience, for grieving people to be truly supported. Not just in moments of crisis, but in the ongoing reality of loss.
This is part of what inspired me to create Embracing Grief: A Weekend Nature Retreat, taking place May 21–24 in Algonquin Park at the stunning Northern Edge Algonquin.
The retreat is designed for adults who are grieving the death of someone they love and are looking for something beyond traditional support. A space where grief doesn’t need to be explained, minimized, or rushed.
Over four days in a quiet, nature-based setting, participants are invited to rest, connect, and gently engage with their grief in ways that feel safe and self-directed. The weekend includes facilitated reflection, embodied practices, time in nature, and shared community, along with space for solitude.
My hope is to offer a setting where grief is not treated as something to “fix,” but as sacred work to be witnessed and held.
