๐Ÿค”I often get clients that ask: Do you work with this condition....?

I thought it would be fun to estimate a bar graph of what types of clients I see and what proportion of my practice is made up of those clients. I couldn't fit them all, but I wanted to put some major ones I see!

Not surprisingly, the majority of my clients are seeking Dietitian services for weight change, closely followed by irritable bowel syndrome or other gastrointestinal conditions. However, there are so many other reasons to have a Dietitian as part of your health care team โ™ฅ๏ธ

Dietitians have a wide understanding and scope of many medically complex conditions where nutrition plays a role.
We go beyond just trying to help you lose or gain weight. And we try to deep drive beyond the number on the scale, or the amount of calories you are eating.

Had a fun morning at exploring some fun ways to try new foods!

85% of parents report their kid has some form of "picky eating"

Picky Eaters = Learning Eaters

Remember, eating is a learned skill! Each stage from infancy, childhood and adolescence has so many new things to learn about food! Caregivers play an important role in creating a safe, fun, and neutral environment to allow kids to explore and learn how and what to eat.

Ellen Satter's division of responsibility at meal times states that:

Parents/Caregivers Decide:
๐Ÿ‘‰ When to serve foods
๐Ÿ‘‰What foods are served
๐Ÿ‘‰Where the food is served

Kids Decide:
๐Ÿ‘‰How much they eat (inherently they are intuitive eaters!)
๐Ÿ‘‰ Whether they eat it or not

You got this โ™ฅ๏ธ

If you're looking for more support for your little one, working alongside a dietitian can help you feel more confident, ensure your kiddo is getting key nutrients, and perhaps even realize you're doing a better job than you think!

Cozy Coconut Curry Soup ๐Ÿฒ
Or in the words of my pre-schooler "cucumber [zucchini] and bean soup"

Ingredients:
1 small onion, finally chopped
1 tablespoon ginger and garlic paste (you can use fresh!)
1 zucchini, quarter coin cut
1.5 cups Low sodium chicken broth
1/2 can tomato paste (left over from our pizza making!)
1 can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 Tablespoon curry powder
1 can coconut milk
Salt to taste

Instructions:
Heat oil in a saucepan
Lightly saute onions
Add ginger and garlic paste
Add tomato paste
Add your broth and the rest of your minus the coconut milk
Let your soup simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in coconut milk.

Top with lime and cilantro if you want to be fancy ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Enjoy with herb and garlic pitas! We use garlic bread since that's all we had LOL

Family pizza party!

We used cookie cutters to make our pepperoni more fun (and smaller)!

For kiddos, something as simple as making shapes and getting messy gets them excited to help in the kitchen!

Was craving a little sweet treat while finishing up my chart notes from the day, but wanted to make sure it's filling. ๐ŸŽ

Apple (carb) with peanut butter (protein/fat), chia seeds (fibre) and crushed sea salt dark chocolate (delish) ๐Ÿคค

I also ate some nerd clusters because they are lovely, but not pictured as they are in my belly ๐Ÿ˜…

Come bulk up a bagged salad with me ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฅ—

I like having bagged salad on hand because let's be real... sometimes I buy fresh lettuce and it gets wilted and nasty before I make the effort of actually turning it into a salad ๐Ÿซฃ

Try adding nuts, seeds, and protein to boost the nutritional content!

Great group ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘ Thanks for having me!
