It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my father, Brian Nels Erlandson. He passed away peacefully early Friday morning, June 6th, with my mom by his side.
“Big B” was a light in all of our lives. We are forever grateful for the life he built for us, the values he passed on, and the love he gave so freely.
Dad was born and raised in Kamloops—a true blue-collar man to the core. His fingerprints are all over this city. He hauled millions of yards of gravel, moved crushers at HVC, built golf courses in Vancouver, and later in life became an expert grader operator. He rounded out his career hauling gravel once again for the Blair family before retiring.
But there was so much more to him than his work ethic. Outside the job site, Dad was known for throwing massive feasts, serving up his famous carrot cake, and never being too far from a stiff rum. He lived to enjoy life and make sure those around him did too.
If you knew him, you knew he loved to have a good time—and you’d remember that infectious, unforgettable laugh. Bri loved his music loud and proud; there was always a good tune playing wherever he was.
One thing that’s brought comfort during this time is hearing the stories and memories people have shared. If you have a moment, a memory, or even a laugh you shared with him, please feel free to share it. It means more than words can say.
Rest easy, Dad. You gave us everything.
