The holiday season brings a mix of energy that can feel very different depending on what you're carrying.

For some, it's a time of connection and tradition. For others, it brings pressure, unresolved tension, or a feeling of being stretched too thin.

Healthy holiday boundaries are small acts of clarity that help you stay connected to yourself.

In our latest blog, we explore:
✨ What healthy boundaries really are (and what they're not)
✨ How to know when you need more boundaries
✨ Compassionate ways to communicate your limits
✨ How to hold boundaries even when others push back
✨ The internal boundary work that matters most

Boundaries help you show up with more honesty and less resentment. When you're not overextending yourself, you have more energy to be present in the ways that matter to you.

And if you're looking for support navigating the holidays with more ease, our intern counsellors Sara, Nikki, and Harriet are offering an accessible package all of December and January: 3 sessions for $80 + GST.

December in BC means darkness by 4pm.

The days feel shorter. The walls feel closer. And sometimes, sitting still in a room...even a therapy room, feels like too much.

What if therapy could happen outside?

Walk & Talk counselling is therapy that moves with you. That meets you in the forest instead of an office. That gives you space to breathe while you work through what's hard.

Getting outside matters. Moving your body matters. And doing both while someone walks beside you, holding space for whatever you're carrying? That can change everything.

Walk & Talk sessions are available with Osha, Lauren, Jess, and Deb in Lynn Valley. Same cost as regular sessions. Different kind of healing.

Just select "Walk & Talk" when booking through our website or give us a call to book over the phone.

"Wait, so I have to be outdoorsy for this?"

No. You just have to be willing to walk.

Walk & Talk counselling isn't about fitness or hiking skills. It's about creating a different kind of space for therapy: one where movement and nature help you process what you're carrying.

Here's what you might be wondering:

"How fast do we go?"
We walk at your pace. Slow, steady, whatever feels right. This isn't a workout though; it's therapy that happens to involve walking.

"What if it rains?"
We're in BC. Rain happens. We can reschedule, or we can embrace it. Sometimes there's something grounding about walking in the rain. Your call.

"What if I cry while we're walking?"
Then you cry. Tears are welcome here, whether we're in an office or on a trail. There's no performance required.

"Is it weird to not make eye contact?"
Not at all. Walking side by side can actually feel less intense than sitting face-to-face. For some people, that's exactly what makes it easier to open up.

"Do I need special gear?"
Just comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. We'll take care of the rest.

Therapy doesn't have to look one way. If the idea of getting outside while you work through what's hard feels right, we're here for it.

Therapy doesn't have to happen in an office.

Sometimes...the best conversations happen side by side.

We're now offering Walk & Talk counselling in North Vancouver! You meet your counsellor at our office or at a trailhead in Lynn Valley, and you walk. You talk. You process. You breathe.

Walk & Talk sessions are available with Osha, Lauren, Jess, and Deb at the same cost as regular sessions, just in a different kind of space.

If you've been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like the walls are closing in this December, maybe it's time to take therapy outside.

Self-compassion in December doesn't have to look like bubble baths and candles (though if that's your thing, we're here for it).

Sometimes it's smaller than that. Quieter.

It's saying no to one more thing when you're already stretched thin. It's letting yourself feel disappointed that the holidays don't look the way you hoped, without trying to talk yourself out of it. It's ordering takeout instead of cooking from scratch because you're tired, and that's reason enough.

It's texting a friend to say, "I'm not okay today," instead of pretending everything is fine. It's giving yourself permission to leave the party early, to skip the event entirely, to take a nap in the middle of the afternoon.

It's noticing the voice in your head that says you're not doing enough, and gently reminding yourself: you're doing what you can, and that's enough.

Self-compassion is being kinder to yourself while you're doing what you're already doing.

What's one small way you've been gentle with yourself lately?

December has a way of filling up fast.

There are gatherings to attend, gifts to buy, meals to plan, people to see. And somewhere in the middle of it all, you might wonder if there's still room for the things that feel harder to name: maybe grief, or loneliness... or even simply a feeling of overwhelm that doesn't fit neatly into a holiday card.

Therapy doesn't stop when life gets full. In fact, sometimes the busiest seasons are when we need that steady space the most.

A place where you don't have to perform joy you're not feeling. Where you can name what's hard without rushing to fix it. Where someone sits with you and says, "This makes sense. You're not too much. There's room for all of it."

We're here for you.

Meet Haley, a Registered Clinical Counsellor who supports clients from teenhood to adulthood through stress, anxiety, relationships, self-worth, perfectionism, body image, and life transitions.

Growing up in the Kootenays, Haley has always found comfort in the mountains — making the North Shore feel like home. Her own experiences with growth, healing, and the power of connection inspired her path into counselling, where she brings a warm, grounded, and empathic presence.

Haley’s approach is rooted in the belief that some things were never meant to be navigated alone. She integrates person-centered work with CBT, ACT, attachment and relational approaches, and mindfulness-based self-compassion. Her goal is to meet clients where they are and offer a safe, supportive place to land.

And because therapists are human too…
Unfortunately, she does love having a new beverage for every session, collecting more therapy books than she’ll ever read, and running until her toenails fall off. She also loves binge-watching reality TV, bribing herself to finish progress notes, and saying “take good care and I’ll see you next week!”

Haley offers both in-person and virtual sessions. Learn more or book a session through the link in our bio.

Meet Olivia Blander, a Canadian Certified Counsellor who supports clients aged 13 and up through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, perfectionism, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges.

With a background as a professional musician, Olivia brings a unique understanding of high-pressure, high-performance environments — offering meaningful support to anyone navigating stress, self-doubt, or performance-related concerns. She welcomes clients of all backgrounds and identities, and approaches her work with curiosity, care, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience.

Olivia prioritizes creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their stories, finding new perspectives, and reconnecting with their own wisdom. Depending on each client’s needs, she integrates mindfulness, self-compassion, IFS, CFT, ACT, CBT, DBT, and neuroscience-informed approaches.

And because therapists are human too…
Unfortunately, she does love bad reality TV and sentimental high school shows, “treating” herself to baked goods and fancy coffees, and watching funny dog videos. She also loves bread (and more bread), collecting rocks in her pockets, keeping objects she should probably let go of, using podcasts to fall asleep, and the thrill of finding a good bargain.

Olivia offers both in-person and virtual sessions. Learn more or book a session through the link in our bio.
