If you've been to my clinic or my online shop, you have probably noticed the derma roller on display.
A derma roller, also known as a micro-needle roller or skin roller, is a handheld skincare device that is basically a roller with tiny needles attached to it. The needles are typically made of surgical stainless steel or medical-grade titanium and come in various lengths, ranging from 0.25mm to 2.5mm. The one I carry in my clinic is very small: 0.20mm.
The micro-needling technique stimulates the skin's natural healing response, triggering the production of collagen and elastin fibers. Collagen and elastin are proteins that help to maintain the skin's structure, firmness, and elasticity. By promoting collagen production, derma rolling can improve the overall texture and appearance of the skin. It's also used for stretch marks, hyperpigmentation (like dark sun spots, age spots, or melasma), and fine lines because it stimulates skin regeneration.
Using a derma roller has become one of the most popular ways to rejuvenate your skin as it makes your skin look healthier, smoother and evens out skin tone. It is helpful for acne scars, dull complexion, loss of skin firmness and to reduce the size of pores.
The derma roller can also be used on your scalp for hair loss as it increases blood flow to the hair follicles!
For use on the face, use on clean dry skin. Press gently with even pressure during rolling. The derma roller does not cause bleeding.
