Health Canada is warning Canadians that the company Maskopia (formerly known as Medkem Canada Inc.) in Brampton, Ontario, has been selling personal protective equipment (PPE), including gowns, masks and gloves, via social media and websites such as Kijiji without the required Medical Device Establishment Licence (MDEL) from Health Canada. Canadians are advised to immediately stop using these products and to dispose of them as they may not provide the level of protection advertised due to unknown quality and safety.

Who should get vaccinated this season?
Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine every season with rare exceptions. Vaccination is particularly important for people who are at high risk of serious complications from influenza. People at High Risk of Developing Flu-Related Complications has a full list of age and health factors that confer increased risk.

Flu vaccination has important benefits. It can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations and deaths.

Different flu vaccines are approved for use in different groups of people.

There are flu shots approved for use in children as young as 6 months old and flu shots approved for use in adults 65 years and older.
Flu shots also are recommended and approved for use in pregnant women and people with certain chronic health conditions.
The nasal spray flu vaccine is approved for use in non-pregnant individuals who are 2 years through 49 years of age. People with some certain medical conditions should not receive the nasal spray flu vaccine.
There are many vaccine options to choose from. CDC does not recommend one flu vaccine over another. The most important thing is for all people 6 months of age and older to get a flu vaccine every year.

We ask you to put your prescription in a plastic cover and while we are working on your medication, it stays there (and for 7 days after)

Cheesy Jalapeno Pepper Poppers

Ingredients:
1 packet cheese sauce
5 tbsp water
2 cups of Jalapeno Peppers, washed, sliced in half seeded – 3 ounces seeded = 1 cup
2-4 ounces ground chicken, turkey, or extra lean ground beef
¾ cup diced fennel
¼ cup diced green onion
½ tsp dried parsley
½ tsp Italian seasoning
¼ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp paprika
¼ tsp red pepper flakes
1 minced garlic clove

Method:
Preheat oven to 350
Wash jalapeño pepper and slice in half and seed.
In a non-stick skillet add choice of protein, breaking apart while cooking. To your protein add in parsley, Italian seasoning, black pepper, paprika, red pepper flakes, and garlic, mix well, remove mixture from pan and set side
Add fennel and green onions to skillet and sauté until fennel begins to caramelize. Remove from heat and add to protein mixture. Now add in packet of cheese sauce and 5 tablespoons of water, mix all ingredients together until well combined.
Spoon mixture evenly into jalapeno halves.
Bake for 15 – 20 minutes until cheese is set and starts to brown.
Tip: Vegetarian option, replace protein with sprouted fermented tofu crumbled.
Tip: Need more heat, increase amount of red pepper flakes.
Tip: Recipe can be split in half to reach daily macros
