Shylo Home Healthcare

Shylo Home Healthcare Shylo Home Healthcare has been recognised as the leader in Home Health Care and Nursing services on the North Shore and Lower Mainland since 1980.

Shylo Nursing was founded in 1980 by Betty Brown, an inspired West Vancouver Nurse who wanted to provide a dignified alternative for people with chronic or terminal illnesses wishing to stay in the comfort of their own homes on the North Shore. Betty's company grew over the years as more and more Registered Nurses, Nurse’s Aides and Home Care Workers joined her quest to provide quality home nursin

g care in North and West Vancouver. Before long she had over a hundred healthcare professionals in her employment and was serving residents all over the Greater Vancouver area; due to this expansion, Betty needed more administrative help and in 1985 Linda Gusa RPN joined her and they worked together successfully for over 15 years. Margot Ware RN BScN, the present Director/Owner of Shylo Nursing and Home Healthcare, initially joined the Home Health Care company as a Companion in 1986. Impressed by both Betty and Linda's home nursing and palliative care of her terminally ill mother, and later her aged grandfather, she felt she literally stumbled into her vocation through their wonderful example. Margot started her educational journey towards a Registered Nursing degree while continuing to work as a Home Healthcare Aide at Shylo. Ten years later when Betty and Linda were ready to retire, Margot took over the company that she'd grown to love. Margot has maintained the high ethical standards that have always kept Shylo in the forefront of community service on the North Shore and Greater Vancouver. Margot says, "We're like a family at Shylo and we're proud to continue offering home care services with the special touch only a small community agency can offer - we are small enough to be familiar with all of our staff and clients, but large enough to meet any community healthcare need. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2020 and we're looking forward to a further forty years serving the community!"

Another scary reminder why seniors should never hire strangers off the internet to come in their homes and instead hire reputable local home care agency who carefully screen their caregivers like Shylo does by having every potential applicant complete a thorough Criminal Record Chek, with aa Vulnerable Sector Check, through the BC Ministry of Justice.

A former care aide accused of assaulting a West Vancouver senior is facing more charges after a second incident. According to the West Van Police, Rubina Walji was arrested after she became intoxicated, refused to leave the apartment and assaulted the 81-year old senior women.

Kind hearts are the gardens,
Kind thoughts are the roots,
Kind words are the flowers,
Kind deeds are the fruits.

Take care of your garden,
And keep out the weeds,
Fill it with sunshine;
Kind words and kind deeds.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
