Thanks for the reminder Christina!

Moms having their 2nd, 3rd, 4th even 5th baby, all say with surprise the breastfeeding is different from the last time. They didn't expect they'd need support the next time around to get a great latch, proper milk transfer and a steady milk supply. We have a laugh when I remind them their body has changed and each baby's mouth, body and birth experience is different 😉
Thankfully, working with posture & positioning awareness, intra-oral and facial exercises & touch, as well as supportive craniosacral therapy are all a game changer. 💕

Babies who need a tongue tie release benefit greatly from the procedure...BUT in my experience an accurate evaluation requires craniosacral therapy. If the difficulty is a structural one due to misalignment of the cranium and associated tissues, issues with latch are common. Interruption of the attachment sequence, lack of postnatal support can also be a contributing factors.... In my opinion surgery is a last resort and should be approached with a great deal of sensitivity and care. If an infant had a traumatic birth and is subjected to an unnecessary surgery because the provider is uninformed...well. That's just wrong.

And for those who have the support they need and a provider who is informed...it can be a lifeline....
