I’m the kind of person who can get very upset about small things, but when something is seriously wrong, I get intensely quiet and focused.

Today I am intensely quiet and focused.

When I think of the thousands and thousands of people who have worked in the federal workforce, some of them for decades, some of the giving their lives to programs that help people all around the world, now being psychologically terrorized and demonized for no good reason… someone simply taking a hammer to the federal government as though it’s his own little private fiefdom when in fact, he knows a little about it…

And no one dare tell me that was not a N**i salute. If you don’t get what’s happening now, I suggest you read up. Many people who voted for Trump are as upset about what’s going on as those who did not vote for him. This is not an attack on the left. It’s an attack on America.

If you’re a member of the federal workforce who has either received one of those buyout letters or been at one of the meetings, please write me at marianne@marianne.com if you’re willing for me to interview you about it. I want people to hear the actual experiences that people are going through.

The pushback has begun. We are too good a people to allow this.

The New Happy

I understand why people would be silent right now, I do. I understand that in a country that’s so divided, you run a risk in even saying what’s true. Yesterday I read about a TV weather reporter who lost her job because on her X account she tweeted about Elon Musk making a N**i salute. People have to make a living, and there’s a lot less risk just keeping our mouths shut.

But what is happening now is not within the normal range of political opposition. President Trump is not a high minded conservative or normal Republican. Everything we have ever learned throughout our lives about dictators and fascism, and most importantly the role of silence and acquiescence in allowing their rise, is relevant right now.

Do I know what you’re supposed to do? No, I don’t. God speaks to all of us in the silence of our own hearts. I’m finding my way as is everyone. But I do know this. We must not be silent.

For women particularly, this will be hard at times. We will be called hysterical. We will be called unhinged. We’ll be labeled “over the top.” We will be psychologically burned at the stake. We will even be rejected by those who have claimed to love us.

But everything we have learned our entire lives now matters. This isn’t a time to be weak nor is it a time to procrastinate. No one of us is perfect, but enough with waiting until we are healed of every wound before we show up for life.

This is a time for bravery and courage and loyalty to our friends. This is not a time to take the easy way. It’s a time to awaken to the reality of this moment, and gladly take up the mission for which we were born.

in all of our lives, love will lead the way.
