Happy Administrative Professionals Day 🎉

Thank you to the incredible humans who support practices, clinics and businesses and keep us organized and thriving 🔥
These people are the unsung heroes who tirelessly ensure that offices are running smoothly and clients are happy. They often take the brunt of client complaints, they don’t get a lot of gratitude and yet they make our whole world go around ✨ They are highly skilled professionals who love what they do and are so much better than us at doing it 🙏🏻

Thank you to the women of and for supporting me and our community of practitioners so we can build our dreams 🌺

Last week something really special happened. My very own team created and presented a workshop to a group of 100 customers in Vancouver 🔥 These rockstars created “Intake Forms We LOVE” from scratch, complete with advanced information, hilarious stories, and interesting lessons. They stood in front of so many people with so much confidence and crushed this workshop! It was a massive success. I am so proud of my team for their hard work, initiative, and leadership. If there is one thing I’ve learned in business it’s this: surround yourself with people who are smarter than you 🙌🏼 I have found my people 🧡

As 2022 comes to a close, I am celebrating a big personal milestone: one full year without alcohol 💫🥂

For those of you who know me well offline, you know this is massive. A year without champagne is no small feat! 🍾

I couldn’t be happier about this past year and the calm this decision has brought me ✨

After 4 concussions in the past 4 years and now with two growing businesses, I had way more motivation than I needed to cut out the booze 🚀

I will totally admit that I sometimes miss it. I miss drinking at social events and I miss the excitement of pouring the first glass with best friends. BUT! I am more devoted to myself and my growth right now than I am to having something to drink. The cost is too high right now to keep it alcohol my life.

There have also been 3 unexpected magical shifts that I’ve experienced:

1. My motivation and inspiration are at an all-time high when I don’t have any alcohol. In fact, I am completely convinced that starting this new business was only made possible by avoiding the booze 💯

I constantly have new moments of inspiration, I’m sharper when I’m sober full-time and I wouldn’t give them up for anything. Not even the excitement of one drink!

2. I love not having to decide if, when and how much to drink. Decision fatigue is a real thing. Since drinking is off the table for me right now, it’s something I don’t even have to take time to agonize over. There is time freedom that comes from not having to make these decisions that come along with drinking.

3. Finally, the most amazing shift is that I’m a better mom. This is the biggest benefit by far. It’s also a longer story but I am so sure that I am kinder, more patient, present, and a more empathetic parent without even one drop of booze.

I don’t know what 2023 will hold. I might have a glass or two this year at some point; but not yet. For now, this feels like exactly where I need to be: being devoted to myself. I am starting the year clear-headed, full of inspired purpose and so ready to reach some massive personal and professional goals ☀️

I see sunshine ahead. 2023, I’m coming for you!

Anyone else cutting out alcohol or reducing alcohol in 2023?

Raising from an idea that came to me in the forest to a scaling business has been a journey like no other. To my fellow business leaders, I am sharing my top lessons here in the hope that this might support you on your own journey.

1. Systems. Only 6% of problems are people driven. The rest are due to poor systems. If you can set the foundation with organized systems, you’ll have a smooth-running company and happier people.

2. Not apologizing. I used to think that women could do everything as well as men and that in order to prove this, we needed to do things exactly the way men have. I was wrong. We don’t need to work harder, we need to do things our way.

3. Start-up life is the unknown. Building a start-up is so much different than running an existing small business. As , our COO, so beautifully describes start-up life: “being part of a start-up is like riding a rocketship, except we are building the rocket as we fly.”

4. Resilience. The ingredients for Ginger Desk’s resilience have been a healthy combination of leveraging technology, building effective systems, and consistently promoting team culture.

5. Alignment. It’s important that your values are reflected in every single decision you make in business, especially the hard ones. From hiring team members, connecting with potential clients, and even drafting agreement terms, make sure your decisions are aligned with your values.

6. Community is everything. What started as a mission to support my fellow health practitioner colleagues, has evolved into something much bigger. Our community in the allied healthcare field has taken on an energy all its own and our community members nurture one another more than I ever could have dreamed of.

7. Authenticity. Leadership doesn’t require talent, intelligence, or luck. It requires authenticity and for one to own both their light and their darkness. To understand, this allows you to be present with others. True impactful leaders sit in their presence and light the way so their team can shine.

Cheers to 2 years of fast, intense, and beautiful growth with this incredible team at Ginger Desk! 2023, we see you and we’ve got this 💫
