3️⃣ Take a moment to pause and self-reflect when boundary issues come up, so you can explore why setting boundaries feels challenging for you.

📢Chronic illness or needing help can be tough on mental health, especially if you feel like a burden. Everyone needs a bit of extra help 🤝 at some point in their life, but society often labels needing help as an inconvenient bad thing. Since virtually everyone needs help sometimes, labelling help burdensome is quite unhealthy. Frankly speaking, since everyone needs help it’s an impossible ask of anyone to act like we never need it. It's really common for people who are chronically ill to try to shrink down and minimize their own needs, especially needs they can’t control. Society seems to equate not having needs with having more worth. Imagine having your worth measured by how burdensome you seem? This is especially cruel💔 if you can’t control how your symptoms are presenting. This unhealthy unbalanced drive for hyper-independence seems to be more and more common and it can profoundly affect quality of life and mental health for a person with chronic illness. ❣️Love and rest are human needs❣️ and everyone is worthy of these very human needs🏳️‍🌈, regardless of how big your health needs are at the moment.

💫 Consider meditating while walking or even visit different walking labyrinths in your community. If you don’t have access to one you can alternatively create one with chalk on the pavement of a quiet area in your community, allow the rhythm of your steps to guide your focus and bring your attention to the sensation and sounds of your feet touching the ground. Or, explore the power of using a mantra, repeating a word or phrase that holds meaning for you. Stream of consciousness writing can also be a powerful meditative practice, allowing thoughts to flow freely onto the page without judgment. And of course, don't forget about the transformative potential of various breathing techniques. Even kicking a soccer ball repeatedly can be a mediation. Meditation is a perfect tool to fit into your life rather than needing to bend into a practice that may not feel fun or accessible to you.⁣
