Congratulations to Dr Elyse Lackie who we are thrilled to announce had been appointed as for the Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) effective July 1, 2026!!! We are so excited to hear about your incredible accomplishment.

This is a tremendously important role within our hospital and is a well‑deserved recognition of Dr Lackie’s outstanding leadership, clinical excellence, and long‑standing commitment to North York General!

Thanks to our amazing OB residents for all of their hard work and dedication this past block. We had the fantastic Dr Lakabi who was our chief resident. Rosa you are well on your way to being staff! You were thoughtful, skilled, hardworking and a great leader. We can’t wait to see what you do with your fellowship next year and all of your future accomplishments when you finish residency this summer!

We also have to thank fabulous Dr Shapiro as our core OB/GYN. You continue to shine and we are so lucky to have had you rotating with us again! We won’t say goodbye anytime soon since our team loves your Jordan Stone classes!!

Emily, you excelled from the minute you arrived!! You came with skill that you refined and perfected these last three months. We are so proud to see you meet all of your learning goals and beyond. You have continued to amaze our team day in and out with your positive attitude, knowledge, teamwork and obstetric skill. It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Aynsley Donohue as our new Head Midwife, effective February 1, 2026!

Aynsley has been a longstanding member of the NYGH community, on staff since 2006. She is an Adjunct Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University and holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery from McMaster University, as well as a Master of Public Policy, Administration and Law from York University. Aynsley is a founding partner and practising midwife at Uptown Midwives & Family Wellness. She has a particular interest in understanding and mitigating risk and has acted as an expert for over a decade on the standard of Midwifery Care nationwide.

We are confident that her leadership will support the continued development of our program and help us build and innovate on the strong foundation of our program.

Aynsley we are excited to work with you and to continue the amazing collaboration we have between NYGHOBGYN and our NYGH Midwives!!!

A NYGHOBGYN shout out to the incredible Andrea Levy who has served as our Head Midwife for nearly a decade. We are so sad to see her end her leadership role.

During the last decade Andrea has provided exceptional leadership, guiding the team with unwavering dedication. Andrea has been a strong and consistent advocate for the midwifery program, and her contributions have shaped the foundation on which we continue to grow.

We are so lucky at NYGHOBGYN to have maintained a great relationship with the midwifery team under Andrea’s amazing leadership. Andrea has ended her term as Head Midwife and we can thank her enough. Andrea we look forward to seeing you around the labor floor more doing more of the clinical work that you love!!
